Hannah Levack, Dunbeath Mains, produced both the champion and reserve honours at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ Young Farmers show and sale of overwintered cattle at Caithness Livestock Centre, Quoybrae.

Her champion was a 505kg Limousin heifer which realised £3600 to the judge, Angus Greenlaw, Sheep Park Farms, Bridge of Marnoch, Huntly.

Runner up was a similar type weighing, 501kg, which sold for £3000 to W Robertson and Son, Fodderletter, Tomintoul.

Both heifers were bred by U MacDonald, Lower Cairnglass, Ardersier.

The winner of the best daily live weight gain of 1.247kg per day was for a 512kg Limousin heifer from Sophie Gunn, The Shein.

The highest gross margin bullock and best paraded and presented was a 532kg British Blue from Sophie Tucker, 21 Smith Terrace, Wick.

Among the store cattle bullocks (431) and heifers (301) averaged 322.8p per kg and 305.5p respectively.

A 641kg British Blue cross bullock from J and R Allan, Gillock Mains, Gillock, led the proceedings at 391.3p and £1850.

Heifers reached 401.4 and £1710 for a 426kg Limousin cross from Dunbeath Farms, Dunbeath.
