Charolais crosses led the pence per kg sections with a 395kg bullock from Craigs, making 357.0p, and a 362kg heifer from Northhouse, realising 353.60p.

Aberdeen Angus crosses reached £1940 for a 768kg entry from Starr, and to £1835 for a 706kg animal from Boghall.

Young bulls (39) averaged 260.79p and sold to 281.1p for a 498kg Charolais cross from Ashfield, and to £1460 for a 530kg Simmental cross from Hole O Clean.

Blackface from Burnhead, topped the 840 store sheep at £170.

On Monday, the firm sold a further 2664 store sheep, which sold to £210 for a Texel ewe hogg from Towiemore.

Heifers witnessed a top of £1880 for a Limousin from Messrs Wilson, Street House, Carlisle.

A British Blue led the weaned cattle at £1500 for Messrs Watret.

Heifers topped at £1560 for a Limousin from Messrs Hughes, Dona Close, whilst bullocks peaked at £1320 for British Blues from Messrs Watson, Street Gate.

The weekly sale of 510 calves reached £660 for a Charolais bull calf from Messrs McNabney, Barsalloch.

British Blue heifers topped at £580 from Messrs Osborne, Cow Lane.

The monthly beef breeding sale achieved £2700 for a Limousin cow and calf outfit from Messrs Templeton, West Bowhill.

Bulling heifers topped at £2450 from Messrs Quine, Isle of Man.

On Monday, the firm held their breeding sheep sale which was led by a Beltex ewe with two Beltex lambs from Ioan Jones, Kirkby Stephen, selling for £158 a life.

Store lambs peaked at £140 for Beltex from R McConnell.

Bullocks and heifers cashed in at 296.4p per kg and 285.6p respectively at Craig Wilson's store cattle sale.

A top call of £1800 was paid for a pair of British Blue bullocks from Brieryside, and to 359p for Simmentals from Overtoun.

Heifers peaked at £1650 for a Limousin from Craigs, and to 346p for Simmentals and Charolais both from Overtoun.

On the sheep front, a top call of £172 was paid for Suffolks from T McMillan, Eskechraggan.

Ewes with lambs at foot realised £98 a life for Texel crosses from M Connell, Balig.

On Tuesday, the firm sold two dairy animals to a top of £1650 for a fresh calved third calver cow from Messrs Rankin, Badenheath.

A smaller show of 102 calves and stirks witnessed a top price of £930 for Aberdeen Angus cross bullocks from Messrs Livingston, Acholter, whilst heifers reached £910 on two occasions, firstly for a British Blue heifer from J Sharp and Son, Burnton, and again for Limousin crosses from M Hill, Drumfork.

A Simmental cross heifer from Kaimhill Farming, led the calves at £640, whilst a British Blue cross bull calf made £620 for A and E Parker, Merkland.

A small show of breeding cattle reached £2250 for a Limousin heifer and heifer calf from High Barness.

Thainstone

The best animal consigned from the islands, a 694kg Limousin cross bullock from A Foubister, Netherton, went on to secure the top price of £2340 at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' store cattle sale.

Bullocks (715) averaged 324.6p and sold to 417.5p per kg for a 412kg Limousin cross from Newton of Budgate, Cawdor.

Limousin crosses from Govals, Kincaldrum, led the heifers (513) at 471.5p for a 316kg and to £1900 for an animal, to cash in at 324.2p.

The judge, Jim Watson, Pityot, Muchalls, backed his decision and purchased his champion, a 446kg Limousin cross bullock from P Cooper and Son, Govals, for £1750.

Runner up went to a 456kg Limousin cross heifer from R and J Johnston, Hewan, which made £1920.

Simmentals from Dundurcas Farm, Rothes, led the bulls (17) at 310p and £1420, to average 283.3p.

On Tuesday, the annual show and sale of Aberdeen Angus cattle witnessed the judge, Grant Watt, Stoneyhill, Keith-hall, select his champion in the form of a 23-month-old 632kg bullock from Angus Greenlaw, Sheep Park which realised £1890 to David Buchan.

Bullocks (502) and heifers (164) levelled at 318.4p and 293.1p respectively.

Among the pence per kg section bullocks attained 373.8p for a 428kg entry from Lower Hobbister, Stenness, whilst heifers weighing 396kg from Altyre Estate, Forres, sold for 346p.

A Limousin heifer stirk from J Weir, High Lodore, secured the top price of £810 at Penrith and District Farmers Marts' fortnightly sale of 202 rearing calves and stirks.

Top priced bullock at £790 went to a British Blue from J and B Donald and Son, Lamonby Hall.

Among the calves, it was British Blues that made their mark, with bulls selling to £540 for GL Armstrong and Son, Blunderfield East, and to £515 for a heifer from J Jackson and Son, Frizington Parks.

The same day the firm sold 55 dairy cattle to a top of £2150 for a Friesian heifer from G and E A Harrison, Mount Clifton, giving 37 litres to TJ and JM Powley, Blands.

Second calved cows from Messrs Turnbull, Monks House, realised £2100 also being purchased by Messrs Powley.

British Blue cross bullocks from A and F Baillie, Low Glasnick, realised the top price of £1800 at C and D auction Marts' fortnightly sale of store cattle.

Aberdeen Angus from Seafield, topped the heifers at £1640.

Bullocks averaged 297p per kg while heifers balanced out at 276.7p.

Among the 187 organic cattle a top price of £1760 was paid for Aberdeen Angus bullocks from A and A Robinson, Kirwaugh.

Simmental heifers made £1510 for Marshill, with organic bullocks and heifers cashing in at 356.22p and 327.1p respectively,

The fortnightly sale of rearing calves and stirks was led by a Beef Shorthorn cross bull calf from Messrs Lochhead of Newton Stewart, at £350.

The overall champion, a 575kg bullock from H Barclay, Seafield, Nairn, secured the top price of £1920 at Caledonian Marts' show and sale of 841 store cattle.

Bullocks averaged 293.46p per kg having sold to 373p for A Dunn, Redhall, Gargunnock.

A pair of heifers realised 416p for A Dunn, Redhall, Gargunnock, whilst a Limousin from J Laird, West Shivra, Twechar, made £1700, having cashed in at 284.48p.

Black and White bullocks sold to £1180 or 242p per kg from R Baxter, Gibblaston.
