A LARGER than usual entry at the Dairy Shorthorn Society sale at Beeston, last week, attracted a considerable number of milk producers, resulting in a sold and consistent trade throughout.
Two April, 2015-born embryo sisters by Treeton Pimp from Graham Madeley, Kynnersley, Telford, led the trade at 1800gns and 1750gns. Bred out of the Ex92 Rodway Marie 68 that recorded a career highlight of 10,543kg, Rodway Marie 83 and Rodway Marie 84 both sold to Messrs Malkin, Cotwalton, Staffordshire.

Another Broadlane King Louis-sired Tabley heifer, this time Tabley Moss Rose, picked up the championship at the pre-sale show before selling to MJ Tidmarsh, Stockport, for 1450gns. Champion Shorthorn at the All Breeds All-Britain Calf Show in 2014, she is out of Broadlane Moss Rose 12.
The reserve champion, Martin Jackson’s Bilbro Beatrice from Topcliffe, Thirsk, realised 1620gns when sold to A and C Batchelor, Pembrokeshire. She is by Drisgol Madonna’s Prince and out of Earlsgift Beatrice.
