A LIMOUSIN cross heifer from Messrs Walker, Pathhead, scooped both the top award and price at Harrison and Hetherington’s summer show and sale of prime cattle on Monday. 
Weighing in at 472kg, she later sold to Messrs Malone of Edinburgh for 260p per kg (£1227.60) to top the sale.
The reserve, as picked out by G Moor, was a 568kg Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Hamilton, Bee Edge, that made 250p (or the top gross price of £1420) when sold to Shaw Fine Meats, Lauder. 
Overall, 26 bullocks levelled at 210.5p (+13.5p on the week) and sold to 242p for one from Upper Nisbet while the 39 heifers averaged 202.5p (-6p) and sold to 260p for the champion.
The 40 beef-bred cast cows levelled at 133p (+8p) and sold to 167p from Towford and £1246.96 from Hownam Grange. 
Spring lambs (1101) were easier on the week in keeping with national trades to average 194.5p (-8.5p) or £87 per head. 
Beltex lambs from Redden topped at 225.3p with Texels from Upper Huntlywood at £102.50. 
Averaging 158p (+3p), the 60 hoggs peaked at 181.1p for Cheviots from Wester Ulston and £97 for Suffolks from Earlston Mains. 
Ewes (299) sold similar on the week to reach £115 for Texels from Wanton Walls with light ewes to £69 for Cheviots from Shoestanes. They averaged £71 with heavy types at £81 and lighter ewes at £49.
