BUYERS travelled from Shropshire, Cheshire, Ayrshire and Fife, for the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club show and sale at Carlisle, where buyers were looking for animals in good body condition.
Judge for the day was young Scott Forsyth, Baltier, Whithorn, who backed his decision and purchased his choice of champion at 2200gns.
This was Espland Aftershock Sue, a fresh heifer from Appleby breeders, DI and AA Cannon, Espland Hill Farm, Brampton. She is by Aftershock and bred from a home-bred cow by Espland Shottle Duck.
The reserve champion sold next at 1700gns to Brian Yates, buying for his Logan herd based at Castle Douglas.
His purchase, Kellywell Picasso Aleecia GP83, a third calver that goes back to the Ex97 Shoremar S Alicia cow which was an All Canadian and All American winner in the late nineties, was consigned by David Robinson of the Kellywell herd, Cockermouth.
At 1500gns, Boclair Doorman Royality, a black fresh heifer by Doorman, bred from 15 successive generations of Ex dams, from Jack and David Brewster, Boclair, Glasgow, made 1550gns to Matthew and Ruth Harper, West House Farm, Maryport.
