AN eight-year-old cow with bull calf at foot from the Henshall family’s Ringway herd from Lockerbie, proved the star attraction at a joint pedigree Limousin herd sale at Carlisle, attracting the lead bid of 4300gns.
Peter, Eunice and Karen Henshall, received this money for Ringway Demeter, a daughter of the Normande Tuscan son, Ringway Aspen, out of Ringway Athena.
She sold with a bull calf by Ringway Foggy and served to the same sire in March, to North Berwick breeders, AF Thomson and son, Lammerview, Athelstaneford.
Shropshire breeders, B and J Noden, Victoria Farm, Market Drayton, bought three of the next four dearest at 3100gns and 3000gns twice. Dearest was the five-year-old cow, Ringway Grayling, by Proctors Cavalier, and her heifer calf by Ampertaine Gustav.
Ringway Dolly, an eight-year-old by Tatoumh and her heifer calf then made 3000gns as did Ringway Freya, a six-year-old daughter of Rocky, again with heifer calf.
Matching the 3000gns call was Ringway Gillian, a five-year-old by Fieldson Alfy, with bull calf at foot, purchased by local breeder, RJ Miller, West Farm, Aspatria.
Top price for Norman Cruickshank’s Cowford herd which has already been dispersed, was 2400gns paid for Normande Ike, a calved heifer by Roundhill Franz, with bull calf at foot.
The buyer was Andrew Graham, Kirkhouse Dairy, Kirkbean, Dumfries, who bought the top four lots from the herd.
