A GOOD show of milking females forward for the September Border and Lakeland Holstein club sale at Carlisle, saw averages level at £1500 with a 100% clearance with buyers from as far afield as Aberdeen, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire.
Highest disclosed price was 2400gns paid for Holmland Dem Marie ET, a fresh heifer in milk from SL and P Bell, Forest Hill, Penrith. A daughter of Lirr Drew Dempsey, bred from four Ex94 dams that have produced more than 400t of milk, she was knocked down to Paul and Becky Fenton, Tarporley, Cheshire.  
Another from the same home, Holmland Galaxy Asset ET, a grand-daughter of the $54,000 Morningview Shottle Asset Ex91, bred from the VG 87 Farnear-Ur Million Annmarie ET, made  1900gns selling to DS MacKellar, Drointon Holsteins, Drointon, Stafford.
Stephen and Anne Morley’s Petteril herd from Petteril Bank, Southwaite, Carlisle, also received 1900gns for the fresh heifer Petteril Brawler Raven, from J Harrison, Wickerfield Farm, Penrith.  She traces back to the famous Blackstar Raven from Markwell in Washington State USA and is sired by Gen-I-Beq Brawler.
Mr Harrison was back in action to buy JW Graves and Son’s Roansbank Sid Judy, another fresh heifer this time by Pine-Tree Sid, from Home Farm, Tallentire, Cockermouth. She is out of Cunswick Trumpet Judy.
