CATTLE met a fast selling trade at the first show and sale of store cattle at Lawrie and Symington’s Forfar mart, on Tuesday, where the show was judged by George McFadzean, Woodhead of Mailer.
He picked out a bullock from WN Lindsay, Cairnleith, as his champion while in reserve was a heifer from JH Garbutt and Sons, Sketewan.
Overall, the 142 bullocks levelled at 220.6p per kg or £1013.27 and sold to 249p for an Aberdeen-Angus from Woodhill and Ballintuim Farms as well as £1445 for a Limousin from Wairds of Alpity, with the same home selling a Limmy heifer at £1400.
Otherwise, heifers also reached 238p  for a Simmental cross from Aucharroch and cashed in to average 216p or £925.61 for the 107 sold.
A small sellection of breeding cattle reached £1460 for a Hereford cow with set of twins from Balmossie.
