LIMOUSIN-bred calves from Gary Bell, Haas-side Farm, met a flying trade at C and D Auction Marts’ Dumfries centre, on Monday, where 780 suckled calves and store cattle (see special sales) were on offer, with spring-born calf bullocks averaging £767.46 and spring-born calf heifers averaging £598.77.
Mr Bell, topped the sale with a spring-born bullock at £1400 or 424.2p, with others selling to £1310, £1250 and £1200.
Leading the heifer trade to £1050, was the champion, a Charolais cross heifer from W Templeton and Son, Glenlaugh, which sold to the show judge, David Morgan from Almeley.
