Stirling (UA)

UA sold 1130 store cattle, last Wednesday, where 641 bullocks averaged 210.28p and 402 heifers cashed in to average 207.59p.
Bullocks hit 259.40p for a 266kg Charolais cross from Crailloch, and £1390 for an Aberdeen-Angus weighing 656kg from Starr.
Leading the heifer trade at 269.50p was a 282kg Limousin cross from Shielhill, and a Shorthorn cross weighing 674kg from Kirkettle, to £1220.
Also forward were 46 black and white bullocks which sold to 158.90p for a 472kg Holstein cross from Inchbelle, and £820 for a 566kg British Friesian from Wester Highgate, to average 129.67p.
A Simmental cross from Graystale topped the young bulls (41) to 217.60p, as well as a Charolais cross from Muirmealing to £1330. They averaged 186.33p.
Cast cows (149) averaged 110.17p and peaked at 140p for a Limousin cross from Garvald Mains, and £1190 for a Charolais cross from The Ross.

Ayr

BULLOCKS sold to £1230 for a Limousin from Barleith or 283.3p per kg for a pen of Charolais from Mains of Tigg, at Craig Wilson’s store cattle sale at Ayr.
Heifers peaked at £1130 twice for A-A from Whatriggs, and Limousins from Blairbowie. Lead pence per kg was 224.7p for a pen of Charolais from High Woodston.
Overall, 178 beef bullocks levelled at 208.6p or £864.89; with 122 heifers at 203.7p or £848.20.
Black and white bullocks (74) averaged 132p or £691.15 having hit a top of £910 or 195.7p from Darleith.
Also forward were 802 store sheep, which met a similar trade on the week. Top price was £71.50 for a pen of Texel lambs from P Kelly, Laggan O’ Dee, New Galloway.
On Tuesday, the firm sold 75 breeding cattle where a Limousin heifer and bull calf outfit from Mid Skeog, lead the trade at £2200, as well as 11 dairy cattle which saw a Holstein Friesian second calver from Messrs Hunter, West Tarbrax, top the sale at £1800.

STORE lambs sold through Dingwall and Highland Marts, at Dingwall, averaged £37.67 with a top price of £85 paid for a Texel from Wester Raddery, Fortrose.
The sale of 656 stores saw the same home sell one of the lead priced rams at £80 for a Texel with a Cheviot from Rhifail Farms, Mulbuie, making the same money.
Ewes and gimmers (380) peaked at £63 for Cheviots from Cantraybridge, Croy.

STORE cattle met a sound trade at ANM’s sale of 715 at Thainstone, where 442 bullocks levelled at 213p per kg (-0.7p on the week) and 246 heifers balanced at 205.1p (-0.7p).
Top price per kg at 263.7p paid for a pen of 292kg A-A cross bullocks from Armadale Farm. Lead price per head was £1375 for a 680kg Charolais cross from South Croft, Cornhill.
Heifers sold to 247.9p for a 238kg Simmental cross from Upper Forgie, Keith, and £1230 for a 626kg Limousin cross from Tillenturk, Torphins.
An A-A cross weighing 218kg from Overhall, Premnay, lead the 27 bulls at 217.9p, with a 276kg Simmental cross from the same home making £490.
Orkney and Shetland bullocks peaked at 221.1p for a pair of 484kg Charolais from Greentoft, Eday, and to £1140 for a 544 kg Limousin from New Moan, Harray.
Heifers hit a top of 221.7p for 424 kg Charolais from Quoys, South Ronaldsay, and £1165 for a 534kg A-A from Skelday, Dounby.
The sale of 2945 store lambs, island, breeding and feeding sheep, saw store lambs sell to £71.50 for Suffolks from Hillview Brae of Scudargue, and island lambs to £73.50 for Texel ewe lambs from Easthouse, The Park.
Breeding rams peaked at £200 for a Beltex shearling from Vale View, Tough, while feeding ewes and rams sold to £100 for Texel ewes from Easthouse and Colliston, Fordoun.

In the breeding section, trade peaked at £1750 for a Limousin cross cow with an A-A cross heifer calf at foot.
OTM cattle (56) averaged 98.17p and sold to 140p per kg for an A-A bullock from A Edgar and Son, Toll Cottage, while cows sold to 129p for a Salers cross from Dalhanna Farming Co and cast bulls to 108p for a Simmental from High Borgue.
