AN INCREASED show of primestock met a flying trade at Harrison and Hetherington’s Christmas Cracker show and sale at St Boswells, where the champion pen of lambs from Jimmy and Graeme Sinclair, Crookston, sold for the top price of £155 per head.
Weighing in at 42kg apiece, the pair of Beltex crosses from the Clints Farming Partnerhip was knocked down to John Anderson Butchers, North Berwick.
Cameron Pate of Craigsford Mains, Earlston, took the winning ticket in the Young Farmers’ section, as well as reserve overall title with a pair of continental lambs scaling in at 49kg, which were knocked down for £120 to PR Duff, Wishaw.
Among the cattle it was a Limousin cross heifer from Ross Farms, Wester Middleton, that was crowned overall champion before selling for the lead price of 410p per kg. She crossed the weigh bridge at 594kg, and sold to John Anderson Butchers, North Berwick.
Selling for the next best price was the reserve champion, a home-bred Limousin cross bullock weighing 690kg from Jonathon Craggs, Glower Oer Him. He later sold for 310p to Sam Carlisle of Border Meats, Lockerbie.
