ALL classes of store cattle (188) sold better on the week at Harrison and Hetherington, where two Charolais bullocks from G Batey, High Knells, sold for a top price of £1290.
Heifers reached £1210 for two Limousin crosses from  RJ and J Brown, Wilson Park.
Weaned cattle were in strong demand, and peaked at £1000 for a Limousin cross bull from Messrs Wilson, Charlesfield, Kirklinton.
The firm’s breeding sale sold to a top of £2800 for a Limousin cow and bull calf outfit from Messrs Lamb, The How, Seascale.
In-lamb continental females peaked at 800gns from Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset, while, on Monday, store lambs sold to a top of £88 for Beltex crosses from Messrs Wood, Well Head.

FORWARD at United Auctions, last week, were 787 cattle where 393 bullocks averaged 210.69p per kg with 306 heifers at 206.39p.
Bullocks hit a top of 241.5p for a 352kg Limousin cross from Dyke and £1290 for a 625kg Charolais cross from West Langfaulds. Heifers sold to 229.7p for a 370kg Limmy cross from West Park, and £1190 for a 596kg Simmental cross from Crudie Acres.
Also sold were 67 black and white bullocks which levelled at 141.98p and sold to a top of 159.7p from Kirkminnoch and £795 from Hill O’ Town.

CALEDONIAN Marts sold 1030 suckled calves, store, breeding and OTM cattle, last week, where 571 bullocks averaged 225p per kg and 401 heifers levelled at 208p.
Top price per head and per per kg at £1350 and 444p was the overall champion, a Limousin cross heifer weighing 304kg from R Currie, Low Dunasherry, Tayinloan, which sold to the pre-sale judge, James Graham, Mains of Burnbank, Blairdrummond.
Leading the bullocks at 343p was a 294kg Limousin from R Cunninghame, Neriby, Isle of Islay, and at £1100 was a 372kg Charolais from C McKinnon, 4 Kilkenneth, Isle of Tiree.
In-calf heifers from D McColl jnr, Mid Farm, Isle of Lismore, hit a top of £1000 twice in the sale of 56 breeding cattle, while a Luing from Scammadale lead the 55 OTM cows to £670.

Dingwall
STORE bullocks (59) levelled at 208.4p per kg and sold to 273.p at Dingwall and Northern Marts, last week, for a 185kg Charolais cross from 4 Torvaig, Portree, with £1390 paid for a 660kg Limousin cross from Wester Moy, Urray.
A Limousin cross (240kg) from Rowanburn, Plockton, led the heifers to 220.8p, as well as another weighing 605kg from Clury, Dulnain Bridge, to £1325. The 76 heifers averaged 193.7p.
The firm also sold 111 head breeding cattle, which saw in-calf Aberdeen-Angus cows sell to £1700 twice from the Gordonhall dispersal, Kingussie, while an in-calf Simmental heifer sold to £1580 from Culmill, Kiltarlity.

St Boswells
At its fortnightly sale of store and breeding cattle as well as store lambs, Harrison and Hetherington saw a mixed show of breeding cattle sell to £1420 three times for cows and calves from Messrs Brown, Tyninghame.
 A mixed show of store cattle topped at £1090 for a bullock from Messrs Spence, Monklaw, with a pen of Salers heifers from Edgerston Trading leading the price per kg at 231p.

Thainstone
ABERDEEN and Northern Marts sold 351 store cattle last week, where 202 bullocks averaged 213.6p per kg (+0.6p on the week) with 143 heifers at 204.4p (-0.7p).
Top price per kg at 271.6p was a pen of three Charolais bullocks (394kg) from Welton of Creuchies, Alyth, while top gross price at £1380 came from North Fornet, South Auchronie, for a pen of three 690kg Aberdeen-Angus.
A Charolais cross heifer weighing 380kg from Welton of Creuchies sold to a top of 242.1p, while a 586kg of the same breed from Burnton, Laurenckirk, sold for £1205.
Also forward were consignments from Orkney and Shetland, which saw bullocks hit a top of 232.8p for a 480kg Charolais from Da Knowe, Twatt, and £1055 for a pair of Limousins scaling in at 500kg from Lower Cottisgarth, Rendall. Among the heifers, it was a Limousin cross (516kg) from Housebay Farms, Stronsay, which sold for 201.5p, while a 675kg Shorthorn from Appieteen, Sandwick, sold to £1160.
The firm had forward 80 breeding cattle, which saw an in-calf Simmental heifer from Barns, Crathes, sell for the top price of £1700.

Stirling (Cal)
ALL classes sold dearer on the week at Caledonian Marts’ recent store sale, where 204 store cattle and 513 store lambs and feeding sheep were forward.
Bullocks levelled at 209p per kg and hit a top of 295p from J McLaren, Murrayshall, and £1100 twice – from R Rodger, Knockraich, and AM McKenzie and Partners, Ardgate. Heifers averaged 203p, with Limousins from B Harper, Greenwells, selling for 305p, while top price per head at £1080 came for Limousins from J Gilvear and Sons, Graystale.
Mainly Ayrshires were forward in the young bull section, where they sold to 171p or £1100 from R Clowes, Newhall, Solsgirth, to average 138p.
In the breeding section, which mainly included 90 stock cows from Glenree Farms, Isle of Arran, it was an in-calf Limousin from that herd which sold to a top of £1300.
Store lambs sold to £67 for a pen of Texels from Mr Wallace, Easter Bowhill, while ewes peaked at £90 for Texels from the same home.

Broughton
BOTH the overall cattle champion and reserve sold for the top joint price of £1150, at Brought Auction Marts’ recent Christmas show and sale of primestock and store cattle.
Taking the supreme honours was a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Capstick, Whicham Hall, which sold to Messrs Nicholson, Birch Bank, while a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Temple, Black Hall, stood reserve and was knocked down to Messrs Benson, Gamswell.
Prime sheep sold to a top of £108 for Beltex from Parsonage Farm, with the champion pen of five continental cross lambs weighing 42kg selling for £104 or 248p per kg.

Dumfries
TRADE for all classes was sharper at C and D Auctions Marts’ fortnightly store sale on Monday, where 164 cattle were forward.
A Hereford bullock from Baltersean, topped the 67 bullocks, which averaged 204.1p, while a Limousin heifer from Bush of Craigs sold to £1115.
