A YOUNG Hereford heifer become a double record holder at the recent Designer Genes sale at Shrewsbury Auction, when she was knocked down for 8500gns to become the highest priced Hereford female under a year as well as the dearest polled female to sell in the UK.
Setting that price was Sky High 1 Miss Valentine, a 10-month-old Romany 1 Lawbreaker RE L23 daughter from B Birch and G Brindley that was snapped up by Adam Bowen and family.
Taking the second top price of 8000gns was Coley 1 Bubbles 249 from Miss H Whittaker. Bubbles, a twice native inter-breed champion and reserve Female of the Year, sold to PD and JM Vaughan.
A number of embryos were also on offer with the dearest of these selling for £9000. For their money, buyers MJT Herefords in Canada and Dara C Entwistle, Illinois, get a flush of any cow in the noted Moeskaer herd in Denmark.
The sale also brought about the highest average of any UK Hereford sale when 17 females and three embryos cashed in to level at £4717.
