IN a major change to its schedule, the first week of the Stirling Bull Sales in February will see the Aberdeen-Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Hereford, Limousin and British Blue breeds all sold in one day.
In recent years, the sales of Aberdeen-Angus and Beef Shorthorn, have been staged on the Monday, with the remainder sold on the Tuesday. This year, however, to ensure a more efficient event, all five breeds will be sold on Monday, February 6.
The show of Aberdeen-Angus and Beef Shorthorns will be staged on Sunday, February 5, with the show of Limousin and all sales, on the Monday.
The second week of the sales, will continue as in previous years, with the show of Salers and Simmentals on Sunday, February 19 and the Charolais on Monday, February 20.
Salers and Simmentals will be cashed on the Monday, with the Charolais sold on Tuesday, February 21.
Commenting on the alterations, George Purves, United Auctions’ new managing director who took over the position from David Leggat, said: “We are aware of the pressure on people’s time and are always looking to make the sales more efficient and productive for vendors and customers.
“Entry numbers are much on a par to last year, but there is no point in prolonging the sales if they can all be done in one day,” he said, adding that United Auctions had not received objections to the changes.
