PRIME lambs met an easier trade on the week when Lawrie and Symington sold 657, last week, to average 161.5p per kg (-8p on the week).
They sold to 203.5p and £87.50 for a 43kg Beltex from A Strachan, Clochie, while the 208 cast sheep hit a top of £87 for a Texel ewe from E and R Hampton, Eight Acres.

St Boswells
AVERAGES rose on the week at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 32 clean cattle, last week, when 11 bullocks averaged 229.6p per kg (+24p) and 21 heifers levelled at 223.2p (+12.7p).
Hitting a top of 246p was a heifer from Bee Edge with bullocks to 241p. Upper Nisbet led the gross trade at £1497.60.
Cast beef cows (49) averaged 122.4p (+0.2p) and sold to 171p from Symington Mains and £1177.50 from Muircleugh.
Averaging 157.1p (-7.9p), the 1728 lambs reached 194.7p for Texels from Kirtleton and £94 for Texels from Beechbank.
Suffolks from Newhouses led the 256 cast ewes (which averaged £58.49) at £97.
 
Thainstone
SELLING through Aberdeen and Northern Marts, last week, were 725 prime lambs which averaged 152p per kg with the 383 SQQ lambs at 156.2p.
Texels topped at 200p for a 39kg pen from Aulton, Insch, with a 74kg pen of Texel crosses from North Easterton, Hatton, and a 57kg pen of Suffolks from Newton of Downie, Crathie, both hitting £80 per head.
Feeding ewes and rams (115) sold to £105.50 for a Charolais ram from East Backburn, Netherley.

Stirling (UA)
PRIME lambs sold to average 163.33p per kg for 1911 at United Auctions, last week, where a pen of Beltex from Messrs Morton, Lochend, topped at 229p and £96.
Cast sheep (966) reached £148 for Texel ewes from Nethermill.

Longtown
C AND D Auction Marts sold 4735 prime lambs, last week, where Beltex from Killocraw, Kintyre, topped at 233p per kg and Texels from Shieldhill sold for £96.
They averaged 172p with an SQQ averaged of 175p.
Cast sheep (4561) peaked at £162 for Texels ewes from West Knowe, with tups to £132 for Texels from Randalholme, and light ewes to £68 for Blackfaces from Quarry House.

Ayr
SELLING through Craig Wilson, on Monday, were 927 prime hoggs which cashed in to average 173.4p per kg (+14.9p).
They reached 214.3p for a pen of 42kg Beltex from Barskelly, Kirkmichael, and £94 for Beltex from Muir (Watson).
Texel ewes from Ballochneil, Kirkoswald, topped the 254 cast sheep at £131.
On Tuesday, the firm sold 10 prime cattle which peaked at 243p and £1433.70 for a Charolais heifer from High Gameshill.
Cast cattle continued to sell well as 23 beef cows averaged 114.63p and reached 124.5p and £890 for a Simmental from Laigland.
Dairy cows (77) levelled at 89.31p and sold to £830 from Kilhenzie and Darnlaw, as well as 130.2p from High Parks.

Lanark
AVERAGING 179.8p per kg, some 1703 prime hoggs sold to a top of 221.1p for 38kg Beltex from High Parks, Hamilton, at Lawrie and Symington on Monday.
They also reached £96.50 for 47kg Texels from Carstairs Mains, Carstairs.
The 629 cast sheep averaged £59.41 and sold to £147.50 for Texel ewes from Chesterhall Parks.

Dingwall
PRIME cattle sold to a top of 219p per kg for a 580kg Limousin cross bullock from Drummond, Evanton, at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale of 31 on Tuesday.
Bullocks (nine) also reached £1408.75 for a Charolais cross weighing 805kg from Shawpark, Glaickmore, and averaged 196.7p (-9.9p on the week).
Averaging 203.6p (-4.7p) the 21 heifers reached 211p for both a 645kg Charolais cross from Bridgend, Dingwall, and a 515kg Limousin cross from Drummond.
Also on offer were 355 prime hoggs which averaged 168.8p (+1.2p) with the 232 SQQs at 175.2p (+1.9p).
They hit a top of 187.2p and £80.50 for Beltex crosses weighing 43kg from Torgorm, Conon Bridge.
Feeding sheep (78) sold to £86 for Texel ewes from Glaich Na Goire, Kiltarlity.

Castle Douglas
WALLETS Marts sold 1794 prime hoggs on Tuesday – an increase of more than 1000 head on the year – which levelled at 168.3p per kg with SQQs at 170.3p.
They reached 212.5p and £85 for 40kg Beltex crosses from Upper Hardland, Balmaclellan.
Texels from Hillside topped the 293 cast sheep at £142.

HEAVY hoggs were harder to cash at Caledonian Marts’ sale of 1617 prime hoggs, on Tuesday, which averaged 165.5p per kg (+1.3p on the week) with the 961 SQQs at 175.7p (+8.3p).
Doune Farms led the trade at 200p with a pair of 45kg Beltex crosses while a Texel from Carriston sold for £94 to top the gross trade.
Averaging £57.01 for 375, cast ewes reached £124 for Texels from Allanfauld.
