EXPORTS of embryos from some of the country's top breeding females are nothing new, but to date, little has been highlighted of how well such animals turn out, until now – an 11-month-old Aberdeen Angus ET bull bred from a Scottish cow, has sold for $20,000 for a half interest in Canada.

The calf, BJ's Danger Zone 609, which was bought as an embryo from McLaren family, Netherton, Blackford, topped the recent British Connection Bull sale of Angus and Herefords, sale when he sold for $20,000 for a half interest to Dwajo Angus, Albert.

The calf, which was bred by BJ Cattle Co, for BJ Scheirlinck and family in Alberta, is a son of the Rawburn Rommel daughter, Netherton Blackbird M712, which was senior female, overall senior and native senior inter-breed champion at The Stars of the Future Calf Show at Stirling in 2013.

A grand-daughter of the 12,000gns Netherton Blackbird B172 which also bred the 2012 summer and winter National Show female champion, Netherton Blackbird K544, Blackbird M712 is also a full sister to the McLaren's 2010 Winter National Show heifer calf champion.

BJ Danger Zone's sire was the top performance Australian bull, Ardrossan Admiral A2. Overall, BJ Cattle sold 20 Angus bulls to average $8630.

Netherton which in partnership with HW Angus, have sold genetics to more than 21 different countries in the last two years.
