A SMALLER show of prime cattle was easily sold at C and D Auctions Marts, where a Charolais heifer from Horseholm, Bankead, sold to 211.5p.
Leading the sale of 362 hoggs at £88 were Texels from Hillhead, with 166 cast sheep selling to £108.50 for Texel ewes from Kerricks.

Forfar
PRIME bullocks averaged 224p per kg for five at Lawrie and Symington’s sale, while 20 heifers levelled at 228p.
Trade hit a top of 235p for a 615kg Limousin steer from Gask and to £1506 for a 655kg Limousin from Nethermyres. Heifers sold to 249p and £1484 for a 596kg Limousin from West Bog.
The sale of 354 hoggs was topped at 202.3p for 43kg Texels from Mains of Dalrulzion, and £89 for 66kg Texels from the same home. They averaged 169p (+7.5p on the week).

Thainstone
SOME 42 prime cattle were sold at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale, where 17 bullocks averaged 197.6p per kg and 18 heifers at 211.2p.
Leading the entry at 239p was a 570kg Limousin heifer from West Knock Farms, Mintlaw, with a 630kg Charolais heifer from Cairncoullie, Glenkindie, topping the gross trade at £1423.80.
Bullocks sold to 219p for a 625kg Limousin from Waterside of Forbes, Alford, and to £1413.40 for another of the same breed weighing 740kg from Biffie, Old Deer.
Old season lambs sold to 197.6p for a 42kg Beltex from Kirkhill, Alves, with Beltex weighing 44kg from Ledmacoy, Strathdon, selling for £85. They averaged 162p (+5.8p) with the 386 SQQ hoggs up to 45.5kg at 171.8p (+15.6p).

Stirling (UA)
UNITED Auctions saw 3540 lambs average 165.15p per kg selling to £86.50 for Beltex from Harvismailing, with Texels from West Lethens making 198p.
Texel ewes from Kipperoch led the cast trade at £130, while Suffolk tups from Raemore made of £80.

Stirling (Cale)
CALEDONIAN Marts sold 129 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 70 cast cows and bulls, at their weekly sale.
Charolais heifers from Faskine, Airdrie, led the pence per kg at 245p with an entry from Brockwoodlees, making £1579.20. They averaged 214p.
Bullocks cashed in at 210p and sold to 240p for a Limousin from Whiteside, Slamannan, and £1589.84 for a British Blue from Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.
On Tuesday, the firm had 2657 prime hoggs, ewes and tups forward, where Beltex lambs sold to 200p twice from Doune Farms, West Lundie, and P McIntosh, Strageath, and to £96 for a 50kg Beltex hogg.

St Boswells
ON Monday, Harrison and Hetherington sold 53 prime cattle, where 10 bullocks averaged 219.5p per kg and 41 heifers levelled at 216p.
Bullocks hit 239p (+2.5p on the week) from Wester Ulston, with heifers to 240p (-2.1p ) from Bee Edge.  
The 1210 hoggs peaked at £100 for Texels from Sydenham and 219.5p for Beltex from Bow, while 599 ewes sold to £111 for Suffolks from New Channelkirk.

Ayr
PRIME hoggs averaged 166.4p per kg (-6.8p on the week) at Ayr on Monday.
Top price per kg was 200.1p paid twice for of Beltex from Netherton, Dalrymple, West Enoch, Kirkcoswauld.
Texel ewes from Perryston, Dunure, led the cast section at £122.
On Tuesday, the firm sold 271 prime and cast cattle, where 10 heifers averaged 217.4p or £1143.76 having peaked at £1210.25 or 235p for a Limousin from Auchentibbert.

Dingwall
LIMOUSIN crosses from Bridgend, Dingwall, topped both the pence per kg section in the bullocks and heifers at Dingwall and Northern Marts’ sale of 39 prime cattle on Tuesday.
They sold a 545kg bullock at 217p and a 545kg heifer at 218p.
Top price per head was £1459.50 for a 695kg Charolais cross heifer from Mountrich Farm and £1407 in the steers for a 700kg Charolais from Dochcarty.
Steers averaged 206.2p (+9.5p on the week) and heifers levelled at 207.4p.
Old season lambs (864) levelled at 162.4p (-6.4p) having sold to 185.9p and £79 for 42.5kg Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge. The 599 SQQs averaged 166.6p (-8.6p).
Suffolk cross ewes sold to £67 twice from 14 School Place, Dulnain Bridge and Leanach Farm, Culloden.

Castle Douglas
BELTEX lambs from Corra, Castle Douglas, led Wallets Marts sale of 1512 prime sheep, selling at £78 and 193.5p per kg, on Tuesday.
Cast sheep (272) hit a top of £93 for Beltex ewes from Carsewalloch.

Newton Stewart
ON Wednesday, Craig Wilson sold 805 hoggs to average 160p with a top price of £77 from Challochmum and Duchra and 184.5p per kg from Dalhabboch.
