Limousin females sold the previous evening peaked at 5800gns for William Barron's Barrons Maisey, a yearling heifer by Mereside Godolphin from Morrow Edge, Burnhope, Durham.

Best 2016-born calf in the North-east herd competition, this youngster is out of the Ironstone Colonel daughter, Barrons Hansy, and sold to John and Ben Richardson, Ghyll House, Dufton, Appleby.

Mr Barron also took 4200gns for the rising two-year-old heifer, Barrons Ladybird, another by Godolphin, this time out of the Waindale Prime daughter, Barrons Tosca. West Yorkshire breeders, S and S Hough, Park Grange, Pontefract, forked out the cash.

Heifers from John Elliot's Roxburgh herd from Roxburgh Mains, Kelso, again proved popular with sales at 4200gns twice and 4000gns.

First to hit 4200gns was the Ampertaine Foreman heifer, Roxburgh Lagrande, a two-year-old ET-bred from the 30,000gns Haltcliffe Emerald, purchased by S Littlewood, Hollingreave House Farm, Raygate, Newmill, Holmfirth.

Gainsborough breeders, JW and ME Fieldson, Poplar Farm, bought the second 4200gns heifer, Roxburgh Liberty, a similarly aged ET heifer bred from the Plumtree Fantastics-sired Roxburgh Hova, that sold for 10,000gns. The sire is the 32,000gns Millgate Fame.

Selling at 4000gns to Messrs Howells, Gelli Farm, Cymmer, Port Talbot, West Glamorgan, was Roxburgh Lourdes, another two-year-old ET heifer. A full sister to Wilodge Diamante, which has bred daughters to 27,000gns, Lourdes is bred from Wilodge Amethyst and sired by Wilodge Vantastic.
