LIMOUSINS from Nethermyres dominated Lawrie and Symington's sale of 29 prime cattle, when a bullock weighing 623kg sold to 249p and to £1552 for another weighing 626kg, having cashed in to average 227p for 13 sold.
Heifers (16) levelled at 225p and sold to 258p and to £1529 for a heifer weighing 593kg.
In the sheep, 635 prime hoggs averaged 162p (-8.3p on the week) and sold to 195p for a Beltex weighing 44kg from B Findlay, Balgillo, and to £95 for Beltex weighing 51kg from WD Farquharson, Cairncortie.

Dumfries
AT C and D Auctions, last week, prime cattle sold to 222p per kg for a Limousin heifer from Messrs Corthwaite, Balgray Hill, Lockerbie.
OTM cattle (61) met a strong demand to peak at £1207.50 for a Limousin from Fingland nad to 153p for a Limousin from Skipmyre.
A mixed offering meant trade for hoggs was steady to reach £57.50 for lightweight Crosses from Cairnbowie and £85.50 for heavyweight Texels from West Skelston.
Cast sheep sold similar on the week, with ewes reaching £96.50 for Texels from Barbush and rams to £88 for Suffolk from Hill.

Huntly
HOGGS realised a buoyant trade at United Auctions' sale of 1059 last week, where export types sold easier on the week.
Selling to 200p per kg was a 41kg Beltex from Wardhead, Strichen, and to £85 for a Texel scaling 56kg from Clashnoir, Glenlivet.
All classes of cast ewes (700) were easier sold, reaching a top of £115 for Texel from Dunscroft.

Thainstone
PRIME bullocks (five) averaged 191.3p per kg (-6.4p), while 23 heifers levelled at 200.3p (-2.6p) at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' recent sale of prime cattle.
Bullocks hit a top of 200p per kg for a 625kg Limousin from Milton of Fochel, St Katherines, and to £1404 for a Limousin weighing 720kg from Braeside, Thainstone.
In the heifers, a 580kg Limousin from Middleton of Potterton, Potterton, topped at 226p, while a Charolais weighing 680kg from Sillerton, Auchterless, sold to £1387.50.
A Simmental weighing in at 915kg from Lower Wanford, Banff, lead the five young bulls to 159p and £1454.85 to average 152.7p (-1.8p).
Hoggs (2867) averaged 163.3p (+2.6p), with the 1710 SQQ hoggs at 168.7p (-5.1p). A Beltex weighing 38kg from Ferniebrae, Meikle Wartle, sold to 207.9p, while a pen of 55kg Texels from Netherton, Tarland, reached £89.

Stirling (UA)
UNITED Auctions sold 3246 hoggs last week, which cashed in to average 162.47p per kg, having sold to a top of £86 for Suffolk from Wardhead.
Cast ewes (1303) sold to £108 for Texel from Allanfauld, while rams reached £97 for Cross' from Lathones.

Stirling (Cal)
TRADE was dearer on the week at Caledonian Marts' prime sale, last week, with bullocks averaging 209p per kg and heifers levelling at 208p.
Hitting a top of 240p twice, were Limousin heifers from W Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie and J Caldwell and Sons, Moorfield, Kilmarnock. Heifers also sold to £1521 from J Caldwell and Sons.
Bullocks reached 235p for a Limousin from Lower Crawtree Farming, Kippen, and to £1576 from J Caldwell and Son, Moorfield, Kilmarnock.
Averaging 130p, cast beef cows sold to 168p for a Limousin from R Denholm and Son, Wester Lochdrum, Bonnybridge, and to £1330 for a Charolais from A MacGregor, Allanfauld. Dairy cows levelled at 99p having sold to 118p from TS Thomson and Sons, Kirkton of Beath, Cowdenbeath, and to £900 from J and GP McConnell, Hoodsyard, Beith.
Selling through the firm on Tuesday were 2027 prime sheep, including a show and sale of 80 Beltex hoggs which averaged 207.4p, with 1508 hoggs outwith the show averaging 169.05p (-2.6p).
The Beltex champion weighing 44kg from JB Guthrie, Cuiltburn, Muthill, sold to £101 or 230p, with the same home selling the reserve champion (46kg) to £101.
In the cast ring, 45 export ewes averaged £44.75 with 45 heavies at £67.37. They sold to £96 for a cross ewe from RA Campbell and Sons, Meikle Seggie, Milnathort, with tups to £96 for a Suffolk from TJ Paterson, Auldlead Road, Beith.

Longtown
LAST week, C and D Auction Marts' sold 26 prime cattle where bullocks peaked at £1428.30 for a British Blue from Messrs Jardine, The Yett, with heifers to 210p per kg for a Limousin heifer from the same home.
A large show of 5612 prime hoggs averaged 168.3p with SQQs at 172p. They sold to 268p for a pen of Beltex hoggs from A Little, Hollands and Messrs Nixon, Oakwood, Selkirk. Per head, a Beltex from T Gribbon, Waterside, Dumfries, sold to £109.
Cast ewes peaked at £140 for Texels from Beckfoot with rams to £126 for Texels from M Watson, Four o Boot.

Ayr
HOGGS sold cheaper on the week at Craig Wilson's sale, on Monday, and were back 6.6p per kg to average 163.4p for 1427 sold.
Hitting a top of 200.1p was a pen of Beltex hoggs weighing 43kg from J and R Semple, Netherton, Dalrymple, and to £94 twice for Beltex from Keyshill.
Forward were 707 cast sheep, including 504 Blackface to reduce the overall sale average to £41.79. Ewes made a similar trade on the week and sold to £122.50 for a pen of Texels from I Lammie, Longhouse, Cumnock.
On Tuesday, prime cattle sold dearer on the week, when 13 heifers averaged 221.9p and sold to a top of 235p for a Limousin cross heifer from High Gameshill and to £1380.60 for another from the same home.
In the cast cattle ring, 30 beef cows averaged 125.6p and peaked at 149.7p or £1140 for a Limousin from Wheatfield, while 94 dairy cows averaged 98.45p and sold to £1060 from Coilsholm and to 128p from Merkland, Kirkmichael.  

Carlisle
ALL classes of prime cattle were 4-6p down on the week with less quality forward at Harrison and Hetherington's sale, on Monday, where bullocks topped the sale at £1623.63 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks. Bullocks also reached 218.5p per kg for a Limousin from Grapes Barn.
Heifers peaked at £1400.41 or 219.5p for a Limousin cross from Messrs Cleasby, Linden House, Penrith, as well as a British Blue from Petteril House selling to 219.5p.
Prime hoggs (2349) sold slightly cheaper on the week and sold to £111.80 for a Texel cross from Messrs CR and CL Donaldson, Hazel House, Huby and to 248.40p from Flimby Hall.

St Boswells
ON Monday, Harrison and Hetherington sold 17 prime bullocks to average 215.7p per kg and 44 heifers to 217.9p.
Bullocks sold to 234p (+2.7p on the week) twice from JF Finlay and Co, Upper Nisbet and Bee Edge, while heifers peaked at 241p (+0.9p) from Wester Ulston.
Bee Edge topped the gross trade at £1418.48.
Averaging 163.7p (-2.0p), the 1434 hoggs sold to £90 twice or 216.3p for Beltex from Crookston.
The 365 ewes saw heavy ewes average £68 and light ewes average £42 and sell to a top of £75 for Cheviots.

Lanark
A LIMOUSIN heifer weighing 558kg from David Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, topped Lawrie and Symington's sale of 45 prime cattle at 248p per kg on Monday.
Butchers cattle sold to average 232.5p and bullocks reached 225p from Oldhill.
Cast beef cows sold to £1275 for a Limousin from Allanton and 167p for a Limousin from Hartside Farm, Lamington. Dairy cows hit a top of £1025 for a Montbeliarde from Shotlinn or to 122p from Huntlyhill.
Of the 1946 prime hoggs, which averaged 167.3p, it was a pen of Beltex weighing 41kg from A Baillie, Carstairs Mains, that topped at 242.7p, with a pen of 45kg Beltex from R and M Struthers, Collielaw, at £104.50 per head.
Averaging £55.01, the 865 cast sheep peaked at £142.50 for Texel ewes from North Garngour.

Dingwall
SELLING through Dingwall and Highland Marts, on Tuesday, were 10 bullocks which averaged 198.1p per kg (-11.9p on the week) and 13 heifers to 209.0p (+0.5p).
Bullocks sold to 214p for a 580kg Limousin cross from Easter Strath, Killen, and to £1421 twice for Limousin crosses from Ashley, North Kessock and Dochcarty, Dingwall.
Heifers reached 214p twice, firstly for a Limousin cross duo weighing 500kg and 540kg from Easter Strath, and also for a 535kg and 530kg Limousin cross duo from Easter Hardmuir, Nairn.
Per head, a 660kg Charolais cross bullock from Bridgend, Dingwall, topped at £1353.  
Also on offer were 772 prime hoggs which levelled at 165.8p with SQQs at 168.4p.
A Beltex cross (40kg) from Fairview, Nethybridge, lead at 187.5p and a pen of Beltex crosses weighing 47kg from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, sold to £80.

Castle Douglas
FORWARD at Wallets Marts' on Tuesday, were 1028 prime hoggs which sold to average 162.92p per kg with SQQs at 165.48p.
Topping the sale at £85 were heavyweight Texels from Messrs Armstrong, Littleton, Gatehouse of Fleet and 187.5p for a pen of Beltex from Messrs Campbell, Tappit Lane, Port Wiliam.
Also sold were 435 cast sheep, where rams reached £104 for Texels from Tower, Sanquhar and Suffolk ewes from the same home to £86.

Newton Stewart
HEAVYWEIGHT Texels from J Walker, Windork, sold to £85 at Craig Wilson's sale of 1013 prime hoggs on Wednesday. They also sold to 185.7p per kg for Beltex from Tormitchell to average 160.3p.
In the cast ring, heavier ewes sold easier on the week and to a top of £97 for Suffolks from Spoutwells, while tups peaked at £128 for Texels from R Templeton, Carslae.
