BULLOCKS sold to 246p per kg twice through Lawrie and Symington’s sale – for a 529kg Charolais from Chapel of Barras and a 607kg Limousin from Nethermyres. 
The nine bullocks averaged 219.1p with Nethermyres securing the top price per head at £1581.55 for a 673kg Limousin.
Heifers (21) averaged 231.6p and were led by Limousins from West Bog, at 254p for a 545kg Limousin and £1466.61 for another weighing 589kg.
Levelling at 173.2p (+4.5p on the week), 850 hoggs sold to 245.2p and £103 for 42kg Beltex from Glenmoy. 

Huntly
ALL classes met an increased demand at United Auctions’ sale of 1168 hoggs, which peaked at 207p per kg for 43.5kg Texels from Wardhead, Strichen, and £90 for 59kg Texel from Home Farm, Aberlour. 
Ewes  (908) reached £102 for Suffolks from Leitchestown, while tups sold to £100 from Auchnarrow. 

Thainstone
AVERAGES slipped back on the week at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale where 12 bullocks levelled at 204.4p per kg (-8.3p) and 28 heifers at 211.4p (-3.5p). 
Bullocks reached 233p for a 580kg Limousin cross from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, and £1416.80 for a 770kg Simmental cross from Netherton, Glenlivet. 
Cairncoullie, Glenkindie, led the heifers at 237p for a 510kg Limousin cross and £1488.50 for a 650kg Charolais cross. 
Cast cattle saw 203 beef cows level at 136.8p and peak at 182.1p and £1630 for a Limousin, while eight dairy types averaged 124.3p and sold to 133.1p and £1085 for Friesians from 4 Sibster, Wick. 
Averaging 175.6p (+1.4p) with 1437 SQQs at 183.7p (+1p), the 2800 prime hoggs sold to 247.7p for a pen of 39kg Beltex from Hallhill, Kinneff, and £100 for 44kg Beltex from Easthill of Crimond, Keith Hall. 

Stirling (UA)
United Auctions’ sale of prime sheep saw 46 spring lambs average £101.40 with 2615 hoggs at 168.61p per kg. 
New season lambs were led by Suffolks from Hallhill which sold for £123 while Charollais from Langside made 253p.
The firm’s sale of hoggs sold to £170 for Suffolks from Catcune and to 263p for Beltex from Ballechin.
Texels from Blinkbonny led the 263 cast ewes at £117. 

Longtown
A SMALLER show of 3031 prime hoggs saw quality export hoggs maintain recent rates with lighter types sharper on the week through C and D Auction Marts. 
Averaging 173.5p per kg (SQQ 181.8p), they sold to 248p for Texels from Messrs Budge, Brae Edge, Caithness, and £110 for Texels from Messrs Bell, Kirkton, Hawick. 
The show of 2809 cast sheep saw ewes reach £154 for Charollais from Broompark with lighter sorts to £70 for Blackfaces from High Tirfergus and Tone Hall. 

Stirling (Cal)
CALEDONIAN Marts’ sale of 91 prime cattle saw bullocks average 208p per kg and heifers at 216p. 
Limousins from MI Wainwright and Sons, Todhall, Cupar, led at 248p per kg and £1616, with heifers also making 248p for a Charolais from TH Gray, Balquharrage, Lennoxtown, and £1536 for a Limousin from AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie, Tibbermore. 
Among the 49 cast cattle, beef cows averaged 123p and peaked at 145p for a Limousin from Ferguson Bros, Gillandersland, and £1100 for a Simmental from A Smith, Ballomill. 
The firm of J Pollock and Sons, Bonnyhill, topped the dairy cows at £1050, while W Hamilton and Sons, Meldrum, received 128p. 
On Tuesday, the firm sold 147 prime hoggs which peaked at £109 and 234p for Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Octhermuthill, Crieff. They averaged 175.95p (+9.35p on the week), with SQQs at 182.6p (+6.7p).
Cast ewes and tups (320) saw the 155 heavy ewes level at £75.46 and hit a top of £126 for Suffolks from Ferguson Bros. The 135 export ewes averaged £61.47. 

Ayr
NEW season lambs sold to 248.8p per kg for a pen of 43kg Texels from J McKinley, Almont, Pinwherry, through Craig Wilson’s sale, to average 244.7p. 
Old season lambs (1201) averaged 179.1p (+7.8p on the week) and were topped by Beltex from R Anderson and Son, Oldwalls, Galston, at 227.3p. 
Cast ewes peaked at £132.50 for Texels from Broomknowes. 
On Tuesday, the firm sold seven prime heifers to 250p and £1506.25 for Limousins from High Gameshill. They averaged 231.7p or £1305.99.
Averaging 138.7p, 39 cast beef cows peaked at £1240 for a Limousin from Netherton and 180.9p for a Limousin from Castlemains, while 94 dairy types (which averaged 109.6p) sold to £1200 from Townhead of Lambroughton and 136.9p from Balgracie. 

St Boswells
AT Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of prime cattle, 26 bullocks levelled at 216p per kg (-4p on the week) while 36 heifers averaged 221p (-1p).
Bee Edge led bullocks at 237p and heifers at 246p while top price per head at £1510.08 came for an entry from Longnewton.
Levelling at 165p, the 873 hoggs sold to £100 for Suffolks from Bonjedward Mill and 203.8p for Texels from Upper Samieston. Cast ewes were topped at £95 for Suffolks from Spotsmains. 

Carlisle
AN increased entry of 31 prime cattle sold to a top of £1598 for a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown, while a Blonde cross heifer from Messrs Carruthers, Glenzierfoot, Canonbie, led the pence per kg section at 249.5p and  £1302. 
Texel crosses topped the 1645 hoggs at £110.80 for a pen from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown, and 266.2p for another from Messrs Batty, Flimby Hall. 

Castle Douglas
SELLING sharper on the week through Wallets Marts were 237 prime hoggs which averaged 172.14p per kg with SQQs at 177.38p. 
They sold to £90 for heavy Texels from Messrs Watson, High Borgue, and 190.5p for Blackfaces from Messrs Welsh, Lochurr. 
Cast ewes sold similar on the week and to £109 for Suffolks from Mossend. 

Dingwall
HEIFERS averaged 213.7p per kg (-0.4p on the week) at Dingwall and Highland Marts on Tuesday, where trade peaked at 216p twice for 570kg and 525kg Charolais crosses both from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall. 
The same home topped the gross trade at £1231.20. 
Averaging 182.6p (-2p), with 1081 SQQs at 185.5p (-8.9p), the 1288 prime hoggs sold to 207.5p for a pen of 40kg Beltex crosses from Findon Mains, Culbokie, and £90 for 50kg Texel crosses from Kilcoy, Muir of Ord. 

Newton Stewart
THE first new season lambs sold through Craig Wilson, saw Suffolks from Messrs Ferguson, Ravenstone Mains, make 225p per kg while others from B Vance, Mid Skeog, made £105. 
The 15 lambs averaged 218p per kg or £95 per head. 
Hoggs (1008) averaged 175.3p and reached 201.3p for Texels from I McKnight, Dalhabboch, and £93 for Texels from J Howie, Auchentibbert. 
The 630 Blackface hoggs averaged £179.2p and reached 190.2p from Baltier and £84.50 from Cruggleton.
