Growing demand for pedigree bulls ready to go out and work, ensured a cracking trade for all breeds at United Auctions Multi-breed bull show and sale at Stirling, where a Salers led the proceedings at 12,000gns.

Star attraction was Patrick Boyd's two-year-old Salers, Drumaglea Kes, a Drumaglea Bordeaux son all the way from Tiree. He sold for 12,000gns to equal the breed record set here in February, to pedigree breeders, Malcolm and Gill Pye, who own the Rednock herd at Port of Menteith.

Next best at 8500gns was the champion Charolais from Roy Milne and Sons' Elgin herd from Kennies Hillock, Elgin. This was Elgin Lochness, a son of Westcarse Houdini, shown by Matthew Milne and purchased by Allan McArthur, Crethlevane, Balfron.

The champion winner also topped the Simmental breed for the Green family, Corskie, when Croskie Glenfiddich, a Dirnanean Bradley son made 8500gns.

Dumfriesshire Limousin breeder, Bruce Goldie, also had a good day selling the lead priced lot in this section at 7200gns, when Goldies Liam, a  Foxhillfarm Irishlad son was cashed.

Leading the Aberdeen Angus section at 6800gns was Linton Gilbertines Lazer, from the Trustees of the Late Gordon Brooke. This Rawburn Black Hawk son was brought out by stockman Iain Campbell.

New Beef Shorthorn breeder, Mrs Lucinda Townsend, who owns the Coxhill herd from Moffat, also came up with the goods selling the top two highest priced bulls at 6000gns and 5200gns. Dearest was the champion, Ballylinney John Boy by Fearn Wyvis.
