Pedigree Holstein bulls hit a top of 4700gns, while females reached 2420gns at the April Dungannon dairy sale, hosted by Taaffe Auctions.
Leading the trade was the pre-sale male champion, Prehen Franzen ET (PLI £571) from Robbie and Stuart Smith from Londonderry. This 16-month-old entry by Midas Touch Bullseye, is bred from the UK’s No 1 GPLI £576 cow, Prehen Altabarney Froukje ET VG87, which produced almost 9000kg at 4.22%BF and 3.34%P as a heifer. 
Franzen sold to James and Edward Stevenson who run the Aughnahoory herd in Kilkeel.
Judge James Walker, Randalstown, awarded the reserve championship to Derrydorragh Righteous Brother ET (PLI £308), a December 2015-born Zahbulls Alta 1st Class son from Willard and Adam Watson, Macosquin, which later made 3900gns to Thomas Nicholson, Kilkeel. 
He is bred from the Morningview Legend daughter, Derrydorragh Legend Roxette Ex95-3E, which averaged 10,134kg at 4.35% fat and 3.28% protein in five 305-day lactations.
Next best at 3600gns was Prehen Goldrush (PLI £376), the honourable mention winner from Robbie and Stuart Smith. This 15-month-old is by the home-bred Prehen Omen ET, out of Prehen Windbrook Goldrain ET, and sold to Stephen Cargill from Parkgate, Balllyclare.
Robert Shaw from Carryduff paid out 3300gns for Carrowcroft Repetorie PLI £418 from Geoffrey Patton’s herd at Carrowdore. Sired by Cogent Supershot, this 14-month-old entry is bred from Carrowcroft McCutchen Ruby GP84-2yr.
Leading the female portion at 2420gns, was the Patton family’s champion winner in the shape of Ards Diamond Sara. 
This two-year-old is a daughter of Seagull Bay Diamond, and is bred from Ards Meridian Sara. Buyers were Norman and James Morton, Milford, Armagh.
