AVERAGES and sale clearance were both up on the year in the bulls and heifer sections at Hexham and Northern Marts’ second annual Limousin show and sale, last week.
With only two bulls failing to find new homes, leading the prices was the junior bull class winner, Barrons Matador, from Willie Barron, Morrow Edge Farm, Burnhope.
This Mereside Godolphin son went on to make a centre record of 6500gns when selling to Messrs Thompson, Springwell, Tow Law.
Top price and record breaker at 6500gns, was Barrons Matador, from W Barron
Second highest price was Lissett Monte, at 5800gns, from JH Tennant, East Yorkshire, selling to Messrs Crammond, Armond Carr, Tow Law.
Pre-sale show champion, Romford Lord, from the Gordon Brooke Estate, Earlston, sold at 5600gns to AL Booton, Ripon. This June, 2015-born bull is by Roxburgh Gurkha.
Selling for 5800gns was Lissett Monte, from JH Tennant
In the female section, heifers from both sides of the Border sold well, but it was the pre-sale show champion that took the top honours in the sale ring.
This was Swalesmoor Lookatme from Kedzlie Farm, Galashiels, being knocked down at 3000gns.
This Dinmore Goldeneye-sired heifer found a new home with C Williamson, Whitby.
Tweedale Liz, from Johnathon Watson, Bowsden Moor, Berwick, also went home to Whitby with Mr Williamson. She sold for 1720gns.
Another heifer in a good run from the Watsons, Tweeddale Louxuries, sold for 1950gns to T Common and Son, Low Ardley, Hexham.
