LAWRIE and Symington had forward 24 prime cattle, last week, where six bullocks averaged 235p per kg and 23 heifers levelled at 232p.
Limousins from Nethermyres topped the sale at 250p for a heifer weighing 526kg and also led the bullock trade at 244p £1515 for a 621kg.
Heifers also reached £1461 for a 609kg Limousin from Gask.
In the sheep, prime hoggs (466) levelled at 187.5p (+7.4p) and hit a top of 228.6p for a 42kg Beltex from Easter Balgillo and £105 for a 46.5kg Beltex from the same home.
Averaging 231.7p, Upper Tulloes led the 60 prime lambs to 258.7p and £124, while 103 cast ewes and rams saw a Texel from Nether Middleton make £106.

Huntly

HOGG trade remained buoyant trade at United Auctions, last week, when 915 reached a top of 213p per kg for 40kg Beltex from Everton of Auchry, Cuminestown, and to £111 for 60kg Texel crosses from Parrock, Rothiemay.
New season lambs (35) cashed in at similar rates on the week, where 41kg Charolais from Nether Dallachy, Spey Bay, sold to 215p and 52.6kg Texel from Meikle Begshill, Drumblade, to £112.
An entry of 404 cast ewes saw a Texel cross from Harestone top at £95.

Thainstone

PRIME bullocks sold to 235p per kg for a 595kg Aberdeen Angus from Greenstyle, Kildrummy,  and £1539 for a 810kg Limousin from Nicholson Park, Fordyce, at Thainstone’s sale, last week.
In the heifers, 24 averaged 215p (+8.7p) and sold to 237p per kg for a 555kg Limousin from Auchmaliddie Maids, Maud, and purchased by Backmuir Livestock, and £1401.60 for a 640kg British Blue from Ardhuncart Farm, Kildrummy, and purchased by W and J Cameron.
Young bulls (three) averaged 132.7p and sold to 139p per kg for a 815kg Hereford from Little Millbrex, Fyvie, and £1,236.90 gross for a 930kg Beef Shorthorn from Westfield of Ardoyne, Oyne.
In the sheep, new season lambs averaged 211.6p per kg for 99, and sold to 233.7p per kg for  43kg Beltex from Cotbank, Drumlithie and £106.50 gross for 59kg Charolais from Barnyards, Mintlaw.
Old season lambs (2113) levelled at 200p per kg (+9.3p) and peaked at 224p and £116.50 gross for 52kg texels from Cooperhill, Forglen.

Stirling (Cal)

SELLING dearer on the week at Caledonian Marts’ were 170 prime cattle where bullocks averaged 212p per kg while heifers levelled at 221p.
Heifers topped the trade at 248p and £1599 for a Limousin from S Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie, Tibbermore, while bullocks reached 238p from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, and £1607 for the same from Ferguson Bros, Gillandersland, Falkirk.
Averaging 127p, beef cows peaked at 190p for a Simmental from J Watson, Pityot, Stonehaven, and to £1420 for another Simmental from C and A Bothwell, Cleugh, Forth.
Dairy types levelled at 110p and made 130p from W and M Wylie, Broompark, Torpichen, and £870 from A Scott, North Mains, Johnstone.
On Tuesday, the firm sold 1064 prime hoggs where trade peaked at £120 for a pen of 57.5kg Texels from K and A Graham, Easterton, and to 224p for a pen of 44kg Cheviots from J McAlister, West Thomaston. They averaged 194p (+5p on the week).
Averaging 255.2p, with an increase of 25p on the week, 124 spring lambs sold to a top of £127 three times, from G Harley, Craiglaw, for a 45.6kg Texel, R A Campbell and Sons, for a 48kg Texel and DS and RC Taylor, Easter Octhermuthill, for a pair of 42kg Beltex. The same pair also sold for the top price per kilo of 302p.
Cast ewes and tups (393) saw the 147 heavy ewes level at £79.69 and hit a top of £100 twice for a Texel cross from C Sangster, Glenburn Holding, Torwood, while 238 export ewes averaged £53.75.

Stirling (UA)

UNITED Auctions sold 3305 prime sheep including 364 new season lambs selling to an average of 232.32p per kg and 2229 hoggs selling to average of 189.16ppk and 712 ewes and rams, through Stirling.
Spring lambs peaked at £131 for Texels from Hill of Errol, and at 266p per kg for Suffolks frmo Easter Ochtermuthill.
Hoggs peaked at £117 for Texles from Linnhead, and 258p per kg for Blue Texels from Harviesmailing.
Hill of Errol topped the ewes with Texels at £120.00, and Bluefaced Leicesters from Coulshill topped the tups at £109.
St Boswells

AT Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of prime cattle last week, 20 bullocks levelled at 219p per kg (+3.0p on the week) while 58 heifers averaged 221p (+1.0p).
Heifers led the trade at 248p from Wester Middleton, while bullocks sold to 243p twice from Bee Edge and Wester Ulston. Top price per head at £1486.76 came for an entry7 from Longnewton.
Cast cows (62) averaged 140p and reached 195p and £1664.30 from Humebyres.
Averaging 228p (+26p), the 413 spring lambs sold to £124 for Texels from Lauder Barns, and 260.9p for Texels from Lochside.
Leading the 370 hoggs to £122 was Texels from Middlefields, while Texels from South Common made 223.4p.
Texel ewes from Greenend topped the cast ewes at £105 to average £68, with heavier ewes reaching £85 from Boon, Wester Middleton, and light ewes to £79 for Cheviots from Nisbet Mill to average £49.

Ayr

TEXELS from Cowgrove led the 203 spring lambs at Craig Wilson’s sale on Monday when they sold to £119 and 264.4p. Selling much dearer on the week, they averaged 243.4p.
Prime hoggs (593) levelled at 191.7p and sold to £112 for Texels from R Stevenson, Langshaw, and 229.4p for Texels from Messrs Millar, Baidlandhill.
Among the cast sheep, 436 cast ewes peaked at £147.50 for Texels from R McMaster, Springfield, while tups reached £116 for Texels from Brisbane Glen Estates.

Dingwall

ON Tuesday, Dingwall and Highland Marts sold seven bullocks to average 217.2p per kg (+6.2p) and 19 heifers at 224.8p (+9.5p).
Limousin cross bullocks from Ashley, North Kessock, topped the trade at 239.0p for one weighing 550kg and £1489.60 for another weighing 665kg.
Among the heifers, Limousin crosses weighing 555kg and 495kg from Ashley, North Kessock, and Easter Strath, Killen, realised 237p, while a 740kg Charolais cross from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, made £1406.
Averaging 200.2p (+4.5p), the firm’s sale of 253 hoggs topped at 235.6p and £106 for a pen of Texels from 5C Balnabeen, Conon Bridge, while seven new season lambs sold to 225.8p (+43.1p) and £106 for a pen of Texel crosses from Wester Moy, Urray.
