THE special May sale of 604 continental store cattle from Harrison and Hetherington saw a top price of£1520 and £1420 both for Limousin heifers consigned by Messrs Trafford, Bassenthwaite Hall, Keswick. Messrs Vance, Bridge House Farm, Wigtownshire sold another to £1420.
Bullocks sold to a top of £1370 for a yearling from Messrs Todd, Longhurst, Brampton. Messrs Murray, Roughet Hill, Brampton sold to a top of £1350, and Messrs Stobbs, High Dalton, Hexham topped at £1350.
Black and white bred bullocks peaked at £1060 for a Holstein from Messrs Hetherington, Blue Dial, Maryport.
Of 328 weaned cattle forward, Messrs Pattinson, Temon Farm sold the top priced British Blue bull for £1180, followed by Mr Graham, Hetherside also selling a Limousin bull to £1070.

UNITED Auctions sold 1202 store cattle last week, where 697 bullocks levelled at 233.00p, and sold to 298.70p per kg for a 226kg Limousin cross from Mosside and £1390 for a 605kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Wester Mye.
Levelling at 220.54p, heifers sold to 274.10p per kg for a 270kg Charolais cross from Drumoider and £1400 for a 608kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Croftjane.
A Limousin cross from Riccarton and a Charolias cross from Woodhead for Aberdalgie sold to £1470 in the cast cows.
Forward cattle (6) averaged 189.18p and sold to 215.10p per kg for a Simmental cross from Ormsary and £1210 for one of the same from the same home.
Also sold were 220 store and breeding sheep. Store hoggs sold to £94 for Suffolks from Bellevue, and Port Of Tummel sold Mule ewes with twin lambs at foot for £162.

A MIXED show for quality was forward at Craig Wilson’s store sale at Ayr, last week, where 206 beef bullocks averaged 235.5p or £910.09 with 256 heifers at 224.3p or £848.50.
Heifers led the trade when a Limousin from Lanemark sold for £1290 and a pen of Charolais from Auchenbothie to 262.3p.
Bullocks peaked at £1280 for a Limousin from Ravenslie and 265.3p for a pen of Blondes from West Lochend.
Averaging 159.1p or £744.07, the 76 dairy bullocks sold to £845 for a pen from Carbieston Mains and 176.3p for a pen from Kersepark.
Also forward was 353 breeding sheep, which saw Suffolk gimmers with twin Beltex lambs from H Dunlop, Holehouse, Ochiltree, top at £201 twice.

 Heifers (567) averaged 225p to a peak of 273p per kg for a pair of 282kg British Blue crosses from Lower Cottisgarth, Rendall and £1270 gross for a 558kg Charolais cross from Corse of Kinnoir, Huntly.
Bulls topped at 276.6p per kg for a 282kg Charolais from Kinclune, Glenkindie and £1185 gross for a 588kg Limousin cross from Pittenkerrie, Glassel.
