FEMALES from Neil Massie's Blelack herd of Aberdeen-Angus cattle again proved popular when the sale of the autumn-calving portion peaked at 16,000gns at Carlisle last week.

Hitting that high note when sold to RJ and D Loftus was Blelack Toplass M847, a 2012-born daughter of Blelack Equity, a Netherallan Peter Pershore son whose dam, Blelack Eyrie, sold for the UK record price of 32,000gns. Toplass herself is bred from a previous TC Freedom 104-sired Toplass.

The Loftus family also paid 10,000gns for the second top priced lot, Blelack Pride N114, to take home their Weeton herd near Preston. This 2013-born daughter of Carrington Park Time On, which has bred bulls to 13,000gns, is out of Blelack Pristine K536, by Netherallan Peter Pershore.

S Medley, who runs the Saville herd at Hunters Hill, Nether Silton, Thirsk, was in buying form and paid a top price of 8000gns for Blelack Kylie N204. Another four-year-old, she is by the aforementioned Equity and this time out of the Blelack Kanasta Lad daughter, Blelack Kutie.

The daughter of the sale leader, Blelack Top Lass P423, was knocked down to CW Foster, Fordham, Garrowby Hill, Bishop Winton, for 8000gns. This three-year-old is by Hallington Principal.
