STIRLINGSHIRE Beltex breeder, Andrew Morton, Lochend, Denny, came home in style from last week's reduction sale of Beef Shorthorns from G and BM Sutton's Bridgehouse herd from Sandbach, Cheshire, having purchased the lead priced lot at 2200gns along with several others.
The sale, staged at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, saw Bridgehouse Nina Francesca, a VG86-classified red and white five-year-old by Holkin Boris, head north to Lochend. This second calver sold with May-born heifer calf at foot by Sleightholme Romulus.
Two second calvers by Fedwen Hebog and with May-born heifer calves by Romulus made 2000gns including Bridgehouse Felicity Blossom GP82, which sold to D Nesbitt, Woodhow, Wasdale, Seascale, Cumbria.
Bridgehouse Zsazsa Fleur GP82, matched that selling down to Shropshire with AB Huxley, Hotel Farm, Grindley-Brook, Whitchurch.
Averages: Eight cows with calves, £1697.06; 13 served and maiden heifers, £1181.65.
