LIMOUSIN females from Ronald and David Dick's herd from Stirling, secured the majority of lead prices at the Ronick sale at Carlisle, where consignments from three other herds were also forward.

In all, no fewer than seven females made 5000gns or more with a lead of 9000gns paid for Ronick Meribel, a maiden heifer from the Dick family's herd. She is by the 17,000gns Rathconville Eugene and out of the French cow, Fictive, by Blagueur. Final bidder was Steven Wilson, The Butchers Shop, Corby Hill, Carlisle, buying for his Impulsive herd.

Just behind, on 8500gns was the top priced served heifer from the same home. Ronick Ladida, which was shown as a calf, is by Ampertaine Elgin and out of the Eugene daughter, Ronick Ida. She changed hands recently served to Broadmeadows Cannon, to TW Oliver, Cawfields, Haltwhistle, Northumberland for his Cawfields herd.

Iain Graham, Rose Castle Farm, Dalston, was also in buying mode, forking out 7500gns for the yearling heifer, Ronick Modesty. Another by Rathconville Eugene, she is out of the Sarkley Cromwell daughter, Ronick Flossy.

Another brought out by stockman Stewart Bett and boasting the best of genetics, Ronick Maiden a January 2016-born heifer, made 6800gns selling to TW Bell and Son, Hilltop Farm, St Johns in the Vale, Keswick. Maiden is bred from the Ashollow Bombshell daughter, Ronick Elusive which is a three-quarter sister to the 20,000gns Ronick Honey, and sired by Ampertaine Elgin.

Next highest disclosed price from the Dicks was 4900gns paid for Ronick Lydia, a Stephick Hero sired two-year-old out of Ronick Glinda. She sold served in calf to Ampertaine Jamboree, to Welsh breeder, B Owens, Red House Farm, Aberhafesp, Newtown, Powys.

Daughter Stephanie Dick's Stephick herd, from Stirling, was also in the money with a 6200gns sale for Stephick Hallelujah, a five-year-old by Fieldson Topaz out of the French cow, Bastille. She changed hands with heifer calf by Ampertaine Jamboree and served to Mereside Lorenzo, to Iain Graham, Rose Castle Farm.

Third top price was 8000gns paid for Mark Woolhouse's Rachels Desire from Staveley Wold, North Walton, Driffield. Ronick genetics are also behind this rising 10-year-old cow which is by Ronick Upshot, with the dam being Rachels Babe, an Aldwyck Sirocco daughter. Desire sold with her November-born heifer calf by Millington Fiat, and served to the same sire to Millington Limousin, Tadcaster Road, York.

Top price for Ian and Wendy Callion's Lodge herd again from Stirling, was 3800gns paid for the April 2016-born Lodge Mirage, a Cloughhead Charlie daughter that carries two copies of the double muscle gene, being out of Lodge Image. She was knocked down to JWT Knaggs, East Newbiggin Farm, Darlington.
