A GOOD show of lambs and crowd of buyers ensured the 4008 store lambs sold through C and D Auction Marts at Longtown met a sharp trade and were easily sold, topping a £73 for Suffolks from Vallance Drive and £70 for the same from Satchells.

DINGWALL and Highland Marts sold 3493 store and feeding sheep to a top of £60.50 thrice on Stornoway. 
That was paid for Cheviots from both 27 Melbost, Stornoway, and Cliff House, Laxay, as well as Texel crosses from 1A Upper Bayble, Point. 
Other breeds reached £60 for Suffolk crosses from Glebe Farm, Upper Barvas; £54 for crosses from both 14 Gravir, Lochs, and Glebe; and £48 for Blackfaces from 6 Valtos, Uig.

Dingwall
AVERAGES were back on the year at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale of 13,469 store lambs, where only the top draws in the Cheviot sections matched last week’s trade while second and third draw lambs were more difficult to sell. 
They reached £88 for Cheviot ewe lambs from 186 Migdale, Bonar Bridge, with wedders to £72 from Burnbank, Isle of Canna. 
The 1665 ewe lambs averaged £43.72 (-£2.67 on the year) with 7411 wedders at £42.62 (-£5.53).
Cross lambs (4393) met a good demand and sold to £77.50 for Texel crosses from Beallachnagore, Strathpeffer. They averaged £52.55 (-£1.08).

A GOOD quality show of lambs sold to a large turnout of mainland buyers at United Auctions’ sale where heavier, fleshy lambs weighing 42kg and above increased in value on the year while store types showed a slight decrease. 
They averaged £57.45 or 162.1p per kg and sold to £85.50 for Suffolk crosses from Ballachlaven and Texel crosses from Neriby, as well as 194p for Texel crosses from Blackrock.

AT United Auctions’ second sale of 4705 lambs and sheep, the increased entry on the year saw mostly smaller, long-keeping lambs on offer. 
They peaked at £77.50 for Cheviot crosses from Ormsary Farmers, with Beltex crosses from Succoth Ardeonaig and Texel crosses from Barbreck all selling for 207p per kg.
