A Limousin cow and calf from the dispersal of the Moonleaze herd of Limousins from JJ and BD Comer, from Swindon, led the trade at Newark, last weekend, selling for 7000gns.
Selling at this mark was Moonleaze Hayley, a 2012-born daughter of Wilodge Docker out of a dam by Bernish Alfy, which sold with calf at foot by Loosebeare Golddust. She sold having run again with Golddust to Counsell Partners, Cheddar.
At 6000gns, the herd’s stock bull Loosebeare Golddust, by Gronw Cheeky, out of a Rainbow Simon daughter, was bought by Fristling Hall Farms, Stock, Essex.
The young bull Moonleaze Marchhare, also by Golddust but out of a Wilodge Classic daughter, made the same money selling to J and J R Appleyby, South Somercotes, Louth.
Following him at 5200gns was Moonleaze Gleam, a 2011-born cow by Bernish Alfy out of a Goldies Thunder daughter. She sold with twin heifers by Golddust and having run again with the stock bull, to PJ Dale, Ripley.
Averages: Four young bulls, £3727.50; 36 cows and calves, £3535; eight in-calf cows, £2349.37; 10 in-calf heifers, £2934.75; 19 maiden heifers, £1573.89.
