HEXHAM and Northern Marts held its annual show and sale of Limousin cross suckled calves where a total of 872 cattle were forward, including the weekly sale of store cattle. 
In the show, it was father and son team, Stephen Lee and son, Sam, of Agars Hill, Whitefield, who scooped both the champion and reserve tickets. 
Their champion, a 12-month-old black Limousin cross bullock, by a home-bred sire which goes back to Goldies Oswald, made £1150 when sold to Douglas Bailes, Hartlepool. 
Mr Bailes also forked out £1160 for the reserve champion from the Lees, this time a similar aged red Limousin cross heifer by the same sire. 
Outwith the show, it was an 18-month-old pure-bred Limousin heifer from Artie Hunter, Juries House, Glanton, Northumberland, which toped at £1470. 
Bullocks, reached £1380 twice from Messrs Millburn, Holling Hill, and Messrs Thornton. 
The firm had forward a similar entry of lambs on the week which topped at £96 for a Dutch Texel lamb from PH McVittie, Burn House.
