Forfar
LAWRIE and Symington’s prime sale at Forfar, saw eight bullocks average 240p per kg and 20 heifers level at 241p. 
Nethermyres topped the bullock section with a 627kg Limousin at 247p and sold another weighing 668kg for £1623.24. 
The same home topped the heifers when a 561kg Limousin sold for 284p, while a 637kg Limousin from West Bog made £1611.61. 
The 540 prime lambs levelled at 164.8p (-0.7p) and peaked at 195.7p for Texels from Southtown of Melgund, and £91 for a similar pen from Mill of Inverarity. 

Huntly
PRIME lambs met a similar trade on the week at United Auctions’ sale of 601 new season lambs, where a 44kg Charolais from Bush, Aberlour, and another weighing 45kg from Hatton Cottage, Dallas, topped at 166p per kg. 
Top price per head at £90 was paid for a 60kg Texel from Barflat, Rhynie. 
Among the 406 cast ewes, a Suffolk cross from North Quilquox made £90. 

Penrith
QUALITY lambs met a dearer trade at Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart, where a total of 3521 sold to 246p per kg or £96 for a Beltex from Messrs Lowis, Galloper Park.
Cast sheep (1301) also met a strong trade, with a Texel from Messrs Wilson, South View Cottage, topping at £125. 

Thainstone
FORWARD at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ prime sale were 11 bullocks which averaged 214.6p (+8.3p on the week) and 26 heifers at 211.1p (+3p).
Heifers were led by a 505kg Limousin from Waterside of Forbes which made 246p and another weighing 655kg at £1427.90. 
Amongst the bullocks, trade reached 239p for a 560kg British Blue from Waterside of Forbes, and £1399.20 for a Limousin weighing 660kg from Mill of Newton, Insch. 
Averaging 135.7p (+3.2p), 216 beef cast cows peaked at 191.7p for a 660kg Simmental from East Cairnorrie, Methlick, and £1510 for a 910kg Limousin from Hilton of Culsh, New Deer.
The firm also sold 903 new season lambs which peaked at 195.1p for 41kg Beltex from Parkdargue, Forgue, and £99 for a pair of 77kg Texels from Mid Haddo, Fyvie. They averaged 164.1p (+1.5p) with 573 SQQs at 165.1p (+3.7p). 
Also sold were 455 lightweight lambs which sold to 162.5p and £71.50 for 44kg continentals from East Gate, Burrafirth. 

Stirling (Cal)
SELLING through Caledonian Marts’ were 95 prime cattle, where bullocks averaged 209p per kg and heifers levelled at 218p. 
Bullocks sold to 248p for a British Blue from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, and £1626.24 for a British Blue from WI Wainwright and Son, Todhall. 
Brockwoodlees also topped the heifers at 248p with a British Blue, while a Limousin from C Malone, Pitcairn, made £1764.72.
Averaging 110p, beef cows sold to £1620 and 110p for a Limousin from AT Mitchell and Son, Nether Glinns, while dairy cows peaked at £780 from R Nelson, Blairmains, Culross, and 112p from R Millar, High Cattadale. 
On Tuesday, a good show of lambs sold similar on the week to average 165.7p (+0.7p on the week). Top price was £104 for a pair of 56.5kg Beltex cross from Doune Farms and 236p for 42kg Beltex from DS and RS Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill. 

Stirling (UA)
CONTINENTAL lambs topped United Auctions’ sale of 3390 prime lambs last week, when a Beltex from Doune Farms sold for £108 and a Texel from Coilavoulin made 233p per kg. 
The 1627 cast ewes reached £108 for Texels from Kilallan, while a Texel tup from Castlecary Mill sold for £84. 

Ayr
A PEN of Beltex weighing 44kg from A Cousar, Howcommon, Craigie, topped Craig Wilson’s sale of 1742 prime lambs, when they sold to 200p per kg. 
Averaging 166.2p (+0.7p), lambs also reached £90 for a similar pen from Kilkerran. 
The 1668 cast ewes and tups saw heavy ewes reach a top of £125 for a pen of Texel ewes from J Yorke, Holms of Caaf, Dalry, to average £64.84, while light ewes levelled at £31.84 and peaked at £55.50 for Blackfaces from JL Barr, Bonnyton Moor, Eaglesham. 

Lanark
A TOP price of 260p per kg was paid at Lawrie and Symington’s prime sale on Monday, where butchers cattle averaged 245.9p.
That was paid for a Limousin heifer weighing 660kg from David Dickinson, Brockwoodlees. 
Also forward were 81 cast cows which peaked at £1105 and 125p for an Aberdeen-Angus from Parkhall, while dairy types sold to £825 and 131p from Bengall and Broadfield. 
The firm’s sale of 1726 prime lambs averaged 166.2p and reached 229.8p for a Beltex from R and M Struthers, Collielaw, and £90 for Texels from Craighead.
Texels from Bengall led the cast ewes at £120.50.
