Trade was slightly back on the previous Dairy Shorthorn sale in August at Penrith, when 28 females from the Winbrook, Strickley, Mossrigg, Bilbro and Dee herds, were sold.

Top price at 2000gns was paid for the newly calved heifer, Strickley Annabella 171, a red two-year-old by the Australian sire, Treeton Pingerley, from James Robinson’s Strickley herd from Old Hutton, Kendal. She was purchased by CD and S Malkin, Stafford, who also bought Strickley Geri 34, a cow in milk from the same home at 1650gns.

Cows were topped at 1700gns for the Hooton Envoy-sired fourth calver, Winbrook Cactus 18, from GA and DW Dent, Winton House, Kirkby Stephen, purchased Messrs Beckwith, Brough Castle.

David and Liz Price-Jones, Overton on Dee, topped the calved heifer section at 1600gns when Dee Lady Barrington 3, was again bought by Messrs Beckwith.
