A CATALOGUED entry of 95 pairs of lambs was forward at Harrison and Hetherington's annual Christmas Cracker show and sale at St Boswells, last week, where the champion pen from Scott Sandilands, Threepwood, sold for the top price of £270 per head.

Weighing in at 50kg apiece, this Texel cross duo first scooped the young farmers championship and sold to John Anderson Butchers, North Berwick.

The reserve championship was awarded to a pair of Texel crosses from Kedzlie Farms Ltd, Housebyres, who also picked up the championships in the continental and lowland breed.

Weighing in at 53kg a life, they were purchased by WP Tulloch Butchers, Paisley.

Among the cattle, the Hamilton family from Bee Edge, stood champion with a red Limousin heifer weighing 608kg. Tapped out by judge, Stephen Wilson, Corby Hill, Carlisle, he backed his decision and purchased her for 365p per kg or £2219.

The native bred champion, an Aberdeen-Angus heifer weighing 626kg from Ross Farms and Co, Wester Middleton, took the reserve overall title and made £1784 to H Black and Sons, Wishaw.
