HOLSTEIN cattle breeders, Mick and Jean Gould forked out the lead bid of 7000gns at the Limousin female event, staged the night before the bull sale at Carlisle.

Selling at this price was Trueman Miranda, a May 2016-born heifer from Northern Ireland breeders, Henry Savage and sons, Henry, Phelin, Benedict and Dermot, who run just 20 cows in their Trueman herd from Altnamackin, Newry, Co Down.

The heifer, an ET bred from the Wilodge Vantastic-sired show heifer, Trueman Honey which stood reserve female at Balmoral in 2014, is sired by the 140,000gns record priced Trueman Jagger. The first Jagger heifer to be sold, Miranda is also a full sister to the 15,000gns Trueman Mozart sold here in October last year.
