averages: seven bulls, £3585; four cows and calves, £1824.47

A SMALL but select show of Aberdeen-Angus bulls and females met a strong demand at Worcester, last week, where seven bulls cashed in to average £3585 and peaked at 4300gns.

Sale leader was Andrew and Judith Denning's 15-month-old bull, Temple Fast Track T680 from the herd at Temple Farm, Somerset. By Netherallan Peter Pershore E052, he is out of the Rawburn Transformer-sired dam, Temple Fair Maiden M524. Ranked in the top 5% of the breed for a terminal sire index of +51 and a self replacing index of +65, he sold to Coombe Farm Livestock, Tiverton, Devon.

David and Penny Evans also enjoyed a good day when they sold two bulls for 4200gns to include the overall champion selected by judge, Albert De Cogan of the Mogeely herd, Co Cork. This was the 25-month-old, Tree Bridge Emo S585, a bull by the Irish herd sire, Goulding Janey Mac, out of a home-bred Tree Bridge Pathfinder L336 daughter. He sold to T Hughes and Sons, Presteigne, Powys.

Matching that price when sold to W Price, Leominster, Herefordshire, was the reserve male champion, Tree Bridge Ewoc S631. A son of Pathfinder, he is out of a home-bred Haymount Galacco F644 daughter.

Selling for 3800gns was Rotherwick Barry T201 from Tony Foster, Hook, Hampshire. First place in the pre-sale show, he is by Hallington Picasso M348, out of the HF EI Tigre 28U daughter, JAC Beauty N013.

Leading the female trade at 3250gns was the female and reserve overall champion, Glympton Essie T120 from Glympton Farms, Woodstock, Oxon. This 15-month-old daughter of Glympton Lord Harry N726, is out of a Young Dale Touch Down daughter. Buyer here was D Jeffries, Banbury, Oxon.

The Black Gale Angus herd at Truro, Cornwall, then paid 3000gns for Glympton Farms' Glympton Tilda T156 which stood reserve female champion. By Glympton Danny N724, he is out of a Glympton Erskine F266 daughter.
