Four Aberdeen-Angus bulls, £3173.81; seven Charolais bulls, £4228.57; eight Limousin bulls, £4462.50

A CHAROLAIS bull from Jock Wilson’s Kinclune herd at Glenkindie, Alford, ruled supreme at a multi-breed show and sale of pedigree cattle at Thainstone, on Tuesday, when it stood overall champion and topped the sale at 6200gns. 
Selling at this price was Kinclune Mascot, a 22-month-old son of the 20,000gns Beechtree George – a bull which stood supreme champion at Carlisle, in 2012, and that has bred sons to 8500gns. Out of the Maerdy Boom-sired Kinclune Gaynor, Mascot sold to AJ Blackhall, Millhead, Tarland, Aboyne. 
Mr Wilson also received 4200gns for another similarly-aged bull by Beechtree George, out of another Maerdy-Boom dam, Kinclune Freira, which sold to Stephen Seivewright, Raich, Huntly.  
Next best at 6000gns was the reserve champion Charolais from Graeme Leggat’s Bonnykelly herd at Mormond Prop, New Pitsligo. This was the 21-month-old Bonnykelly Marskman, by the 10,000gns Gretnahouse Ivory, out of the Haymount Ulysees-sired dam, Bonnykelly Camilla. He heads to Huntly with Mike Forbes, Bogside, Drumblade. 
Limousins reached 5800gns for the best from John and Margaret Penny’s Shannas herd at Clola, Peterhead. Selling to S Hosie and Son, Quarryhead, Rosehearty, Fraserburgh, was Shannas Matchmaker, a two-year-old bull by the Vagabond-sired Alagils Inkerman, out of the Goldies Emperor daughter, Shannas Icandy. 
The Pennys also received 5000gns for Shannas Masterful, a 21-month-old son of Garnedd Ferrari, out of the Dyke Thunder daughter, Shannas Fancypiece. The Chapman family at West Cockmuir, Strichen, Fraserburgh, forked out the cash. 
Matching that price was the Limousin champion, Walkers Murray from Gordon Walker, Easterside, Dunnottar, Stonehaven. By Allanfauld Gazza, out of the Drummin Bandit daughter, Walkers Irrelissa, this 22-month-old sold back to his home district with the Watsons at Glasslaw, Dunnottar. 
Two other Limousins made 4800gns to include the reserve breed champion, Elrick Malt from Mike Massie, Mains of Elrick, Ellon. A son of the Wilodge Vantastic-sired Foxhillfarm Impecabull, this August, 2016-born bull is out of Elrick Holly. He sold up to Caithness with M and J Bruce, Tarool, Watten, Wick. 
The other at 4800gns was Muldearie Master from Sandy and Alison Morrison and son, Gary, at Bush of Muldearie, Keith. Their 19-month-old son of Cracrop Finch, is out of Haymount Babs and goes home to work on GW Arnott’s unit at Bridgend, Tyrie, Fraserburgh.
Top price among the Aberdeen-Angus bulls was 4000gns paid for Newton Muchalls Edberg from Ray Gardiner and Craig Smart, Newton Smiddy, Lyne of Skene. By Duncanziemere Edwin, out of Weeton Eyrie, he sold to George Pirie, Northcote, Banchory.
The Bruce family from Tillyeve, Ellon, topped the Simmentals at 3000gns with the reserve breed champion, Tillyeve Harris, a September, 2016-born son of Woodhall Ellison. The buyers here were local producers, E Edmond and Son, Altons Farm, Keithhall, Inverurie. 
In all, 25 bulls sold to average £3602.61.
