TAKING the championship at the Aberfeldy show and sale of store cattle at United Auctions' Stirling centre last week, was a bullock weighing 568kg from Jim Prentice, Pittentian. 
The stot later sold for £1340 while the reserve, a 504kg heifer from Graeme Cameron, Wester Bonhard, realised £1260. 
Taking the pen of four title was a quad of bullocks weighing 544kg from Ballechin Farms that later made £1310. 
But topping the sale of stores at 354.2p per kg was a 384kg Limousin cross bullock from Newton of Logierait, with bullocks also hitting £1390 for a 650kg Limmy cross from Stanley. 
Wester Bonhard led the heifer section at £1480 with a 528kg Limmy cross and Glendamph sold a 440kg Limousin cross for 295.5p. 
Overall, the 1127 bullocks levelled at 230.85p with the 723 heifers at 225.46p while dairy bullocks (52) averaged 149.74p, having peaked at 161.9p from Mahaar and £750 from Gatehead. 
Among the cast cows, 92 beef types averaged 138.3p and sold to 218.8p and £1570 for Limousin crosses from Upper Spittalton and Quixwood, respectively. 
Averaging 98.03p, the 31 dairy cows reached 129.4p and £955 from Craigend. 
The firm also sold 1564 store hoggs and breeding sheep, where Suffolks from Sauchrie Mains topped the stores at £77 and breeders peaked at £146 for in-lamb Mule gimmers from Girvan Mains.
