A PLAINER show of store cattle maintained recent high rates at Wallets Marts’ sale of 513 on Monday, where bullocks levelled at 234.44p per kg or £920.53 and heifers averaged 221.15p or £827.17.
Selling for the top price per head of £1275 was a pen of Limousin cross heifers from A Shaw and Co, Killochy, while bullocks reached £1190 for Charolais crosses from J Wharton, Snade. Charolais crosses from Poldeen, Wamphray, topped the pence per kg section at 278.6p for bullocks and 256.7p for heifers.
Young bulls sold to £960 and 216.2p for Simmentals from Glenturk.
Cast cattle were short of buyer requirements, as cows reached 162p from Kenmure and £1209.92 from Castlegower.
