ALONGSIDE the Perthshire and Fife and Kinross district Young Farmers' show and sale of overwintered calves, United Auctions sold 1432 store cattle where a 664kg Charolais cross bullock from Midtown topped at £1320. 

Bullocks also sold to 267.1p per kg for a 292kg Simmental cross from Rankinston. The 766 bullocks averaged 262.43p, with 136 dairy bullocks at 148.65p having peaked at 185.8p and £1005 for a 541kg Friesian cross from Barfillan. 

Alison Wilsons' YF champion topped the heifers at £1300 and the 530 heifers, which averaged 219.83p, also reached 297.7p for a 430kg Limousin cross from Lochty. 

Averaging 132.34p, the 102 cast beef cows reached 182.7p for a Limmy cross from Woodhead of Mailer with another from Greenshields making £1450. The 36 dairy cows were topped at 102.3p and £1050 for Holsteins crosses from East Gartmillan and Inchgall, respectively, and averaged 102.3p. 

An 828-strong entry of store sheep saw hoggs peak at £81.50 for Suffolks off Lochty Farms.
