TRADE was buoyant at Wallets Marts' sale of 423 store and cast cattle, where well-bred cattle aged 10 to 11 months were in particular demand while, on the other end of the scale, older cattle that looked best value at earlier sales were markedly dearer.

Simmental cross bullocks from Cardoness and Kings Laggen topped the sale at £1275 while a pen of seven Limousin bullocks form R Wallace and Co, Mains of Collin, sold for 273p per kg. Bullocks levelled at £981.15 or 229.5p.

Heifers averaged 22.24p or £865.40, having peaked at £1140 for Limousins from Mains of Collin and 251.7p for Limmy crosses from P Dawson, Kirkland.
