A LIMOUSIN heifer weighing 569kg from JA Peters and Son, West Bog, topped Lawrie and Symington’s prime sale at 255p per kg.
She also realised £1450.90 as the 16 heifers cashed in to average 229.4p. 
Bullocks (11) averaged 218.1p and were led by Limousins from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, at 242p for one weighing 606kg and £1542.06 for another weighing 659kg. 
Levelling at 169.7p with SQQs at 171.2p, the 1122 hoggs sold to 234.4p and £105 twice for Beltex from Easter Balgillo. 
Suffolks from Witton led the 105 cast ewes and rams at £107.50. 

Huntly
MOST hoggs were store or heavy sorts which hindered the average at United Auctions’ sale of 1917. 
They sold to 213p per kg for 40kg continentals from Newton, Cabrach, with 56kg continentals from Daies, Wardhouse, at £86. 
For the third week, centre records were broken in the cast ewe as the highest number ever witnessed, 1407, sold to £128 for two lots of Beltex from Upper Tullochbeg. 

Dumfries
C AND D Auction Marts sold prime cattle to a top of 228p per kg for a Limousin heifer from J and L Craik, Waterside. 
OTM cattle were keenly sought after as beef types averaged 137.6p and sold to £1508.80 for a Charolais from Newmains and 174p for a Limousin from Waterside. Dairy sorts levelled at 114.4p having peaked at £1232 and 154p from Slacks. 
A plain show of 671 hoggs sold cheaper on the week to top at £90 and 286p for Texels from Cleughbrae. 
Cast sheep (172) reached £130.20 for Texels ewes from The Bush. 

Thainstone
AVERAGES rose on the week as Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold six bullocks to average 212.3p (+3.7p) as well as 26 heifers which levelled at 214.9p (+3.5p). 
They reached 240p and £1464 for a 610kg Limousin heifer from Cairncoullie, Glenkindie. Bullocks sold to 231p for a 570kg Limousin from Whiteside of Forbes, Alford, and £1399.20 for a 660kg Limousin from Nether Mains, Torphins. 
Cast cattle met an excellent demand when 110 beef cows levelled at 137.2p and sold to 180p for a Shorthorn from Murza, Bower, and £1255 for a Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle. 
Averages were up in the prime sheep section too, when 4568 hoggs averaged 174.2p (+2.9p) with the 2401 SQQs at 182.7p (+0.1p). A pen of 43kg Beltex from Hallhill, Kinneff, topped at 248.8p and £107. 

Stirling (Cal)
DUE to the good weather fewer cattle were forward at Caledonian Marts, but trade was considerably dearer as the firm sold 80 prime cattle.
A Limousin heifer from A Orr, Lomond Muir, topped at 248p per kg and heifers also reached £1543 from AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalundie. They averaged 212p. 
Bullocks levelled at 204p having sold to 230p twice – for Limousins from R Cook, Kinneil Mill, and J Watson, Candermains – as well as £1640 from Ferguson Bros, Gillandersland. 
Among the 58 cast cattle, beef cows were topped by Limousins at 160p from Hume of Overton, Overton, and £1200 from I Stevenson, Bowridge. 
On Tuesday, the firm sold 1504 prime hoggs where trade peaked at £106 and 245p for Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill. They averaged 166.6p (+8.63p on the week), with SQQs at 175.9p (+14.9p). 
Cast ewes and tups (333) saw the 120 heavy ewes level at £77.43 and hit a top of £115 for a pen of Texels from JAC Stewart, Kinninmonth. The 169 export ewes averaged £51.98. 

Longtown
A GOOD show of export and lightweight hoggs witnessed a rising trade all day at C and D Auction Marts, where a good show of Blackface and Cheviot hoggs realised a premium if in the correct weight range.
The sale of 5169 hoggs topped at £230 and £198 for two pens of heavy Texel tup hoggs from Messrs Bell, Kirkton, who averaged £138 for a run of 29. Messrs Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Crieff, topped the pence per kg trade at 317p with Beltex, and sold 45 hoggs to average £120 and 300p. 
A smaller show of 2224 cast sheep reached £164 for Texel ewes from Marygate with lights to £75 for Blakfaces from Netherwood and tups to £130 for a Charollais from Messrs Connell, Minsca. 
James Taylor topped the prime cattle at 224p with a Limousin heifer. 

Stirling (UA)
SELLING through United Auctions, last week, were 45 new season lambs which averaged £101.40 having peaked at £122 for Charollais from Longside. 
Hoggs (3713) levelled at 169.1p per kg, having peaked at 268p and £117 for Beltex from Luckenburn.
Suffolks from Barbarafield topped the 1077 cast sheep at £127, with rams to £110 for Suffolks from the same home. 

Ayr
CRAIG Wilson had forward 3141 hoggs on Monday, where Beltex from J Wilson and Son, Wheatfield, Kilmaurs, topped at 226.2p per kg. 
Averaging 171.3p (+5.2p on the week), they also sold to £100 twice for Beltex from both Perryston and Balcamie.
The firm’s sale of 542 cast ewes and tups saw heavy ewes average £82.94 and reach £143.50 for a pen of Texels from J Yorke, Holms of Caaf, Dalry, while light ewes levelled at £52.16 and sold to £68.50 for a pen of Blackfaces from A Paton and Co, Straiton. 
Charollais tups from B Notman, Redding, Galston, topped at £109.50. 

Castle Douglas
ALL classes of sheep sold sharper on the week at Wallets Marts, on Tuesday, where 438 hoggs averaged 171.56p per kg with SQQs at 175.62p. 
Topping the sale at £88.50 was a pen of heavyweight Texels from Messrs Kerr, Midtown, Castle Douglas, while top price per kg at 214p came from Messrs Gray, Eastfield, Symington, with a pen of Beltex hoggs. 
The sale of 109 cast sheep levelled at £60.01 and sold to a top of £120 for Texels from Denty. 

Carlisle
PRIME cattle sold significantly dearer on the week at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 27 on Monday, where a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Strong, Grapes Barn, Wigton, topped at £1866.62. 
Bullocks also reached 241.5p per kg for a Limousin from Bothel Parks. 
Heifers peaked at £1443 and 245.5p for a Limousin cross from Petteril Hill Farm, Southwaite. 
The firm’s sale of prime hoggs saw an entry of 1940, where a pen of Beltex crosses from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown, topped at £109.80 and 274p. 

Dingwall
HEIFERS topped Dingwall and Highland Marts’ prime sale on Tuesday, when a 495kg Limousin cross from Easter Strath, Killen, sold to 220p per kg. 
Averaging 214.1p (+2.4p on the week) for 11 sold, they also reached £1285.35 for a 615kg British Blue cross from Easter Sheep Park, Balblair.
Easter Sheep Park also led the bullocks to 213p and £1256.70 for a 590kg Limousin cross. 
The firm’s sale of 1008 hoggs levelled at 184.6p (+5.9p) with 645 SQQs at 194.4 (+12.1p). They peaked at 229.3p and £94 for a pen of 41kg Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge. 
Beltex crosses weighing 43.5kg from South Clunes, Kirkhill, also made £94. 
Among the feeding sheep (69), a Texel ewe from Bruiach Mills Farm, Kiltarlity, topped at £92. 

Newton Stewart
FORWARD at Craig Wilson's prime sale on Monday, were 273 hoggs which averaged 170p per kg. Topping at £80 were 47kg Texels from Boreland, while Blackfaces from SNH, Dromore, sold to 183.8p. 
Texel ewes from Meikle Tongue topped at £113, while Texel tups from Viewfield made £109.
