The 48 heifers peaked at £1085 for a pair of two-year-old Herefords from GW and M Singleton and Sons, Farlington, Grange. 
Top price at £1400 came for a Shorthorn bull from Page Farms Partnership, Rookwith House, Ripon. 
Amongst the cast cows, the 109 forward sold to 193p per kg for a British Blue from Hughes Bros, Stockton, and £1502 from W Lodge. 
Dairy types sold dearest, reaching 137p from JK Metcalf, and £977 from JD and IW Sayer. 
A Limousin bull from K Mitchelson, Dene House Farm, made £1590.

UNITED Auctions sold 200 store cattle alongside 61 cast cows at its weekly sale, where trade peaked at 280.5p per kg for a Charolais cross bullock weighing 328kg from High Milndovan. 
Bullocks also reached £1275 for a 494kg Limousin cross from Corsewall, to average 239.6p for 128. Dairy bullocks (33) levelled at 165.68p and sold to 173.9p for a 276kg Holstein Friesian cross from Graystale and £955 for a 555kg Friesian cross from Gatehead.
A Charolais cross weighing 313kg from Mid Craigton, led the 39 heifers at 255.6p, while a 598kg British Blue cross from Crookedstonemuir made £1160. They levelled at 213.1p. 
Cast cows peaked at 179.2p for a Simmental cross from Forneth Estate and £1150 for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from Mosstonmuir. The 52 beef cows averaged 150.26p, while nine dairy cows levelled at 111.73p having sold to 130.6p and £985 for a Holstein Friesian cross from Nyadd.

Bullocks (73) averaged 249.1p per kg having peaked at 381.8p for a Limousin cross weighing 110kg from Kilbride, Broadford, and £1230 for a 630kg Salers cross from Milton Farm, Aberarder. 
Averaging 236.4p, the 55 heifers reached 303.8p for 158kg Limousin crosses from Kinsburgh, Portree, and £1170 for Shorthorns weighing 500kg from Alvie Estate, Kincraig. 
A Shorthorn cross weighing 370kg from Kirkton Farms, Kirkhill, led the 11 young bulls at 218.9p, while a Simmental weighing 670kg from Kinnahaird, Contin, made £1300.

STORE cattle met a good trade for a larger entry at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 520, where a Limousin heifer from Messrs Lloyd, Fishergill, Wigton, topped the sale at £1410, while bullocks peaked at £1300 for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from Messrs Holes, Demesne, Carlisle. 
Dairy bullocks from Messrs Metcalf, Palm Strothers, Hexham, made £965. 
A smaller show of 272 weaned calves saw a nine-month-old British Blue cross Limousin from Messrs Gill, Stonethwaite, lead at £1210, while Messrs Holes, Demesne Farm, sold a pure Limousin bull for £1175. 
A pair of Charolais bull calves from Messrs Pye, Hillcrest, Preston, topped a smaller show of 310 calves when they sold for £580. Dairy calves peaked at £290 from Brownrigg Hall Farms, Allonby, Maryport.

A SHORTAGE of store cattle ensured the buoyant trade continued through North West Auctions where a Limousin bullock from Mireside Farm, sold for the top price of £990, while heifers sold to £920 for an Aberdeen-Angus heifer from G Cuthbertson, New Hutton. 
Cast cows also met a good demand, selling to average 123p per kg with a top of 169.5p three times, firstly for a Hereford from R and BJ Cleasby Lower Hawthwaite, and twice for Limousins from N Cooper and Son, Troughton Hall. 
They peaked at £1017 for a British Blue cow from ML and SM Dobson, Esps Farm.

Averaging £588, bulls sold to £1080 for a Simmental from Kincaple Farms, Kincaple, St Andrews, while black and whites levelled at £715 having reached £780 from DT Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart.
