HEIFERS led Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 280 store cattle when Limousin crosses from both JH and RM Lloyd, Fishergill, and LE Grice and Son, Newtown, fetched the top price of £1360. 
Bullocks followed on £1350 for a Limousin cross from Newtown, while dairy stirks hit £955 for a Holstein Friesian from MJL Simpson and Son, Waingate Head.

Ayr
A SMALLER show of cattle met a dear trade at Craig Wilson’s sale of 182 stores, where an Aberdeen-Angus bullock from Broadstonehall topped at £1300. 
A pen of Limousin bullocks from Oldbarn made 264p per kg and a Limousin from Pennymore topped the heifer trade at £1260 and 262.5p.
The sale saw 95 bullocks average 232.9p or £1005.05 with 74 heifers at 226.6p or £1048.69, while 13 dairy bullocks averaged 166.2p or £804.62 and sold to £880 and 177.8p from Camsiscan.

A SIMMENTAL cross bullock weighing 257kg from Genoch topped the sale of 553 store cattle at United Auctions when it sold for 289p per kg. 
Bullocks (350) also hit £1430 for a 594kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Ledrishbeg and averaged 233.63p. 
The 189 heifers averaged 224.31p, having peaked at 260.5p for a 334kg Limousin cross from High Bent and £1325 for a 570kg Limmy cross from Auchencloigh. 
Levelling at 165.56p, the 59 dairy bullocks reached 207p and £1180 for an Ayrshire cross from Low Drummore. 
Cast cows met a strong trade to top at 195.9p for a British Blue cross from Gatehead and £1710 for a Charolais cross from 6 College Terrace. The 146 cows averaged 138.74p with 14 dairy cows at 102.63p.

A CATALOGUED entry of 222 store cattle sold through Hope’s Auction Co last week, where all classes maintained recent high prices. 
They reached £1445 for Limousin bullocks from Prior House with heifers to £1385 for Limmies from Wheyrigg and young bulls to £1145 for more of the same from Arkleby House.
A selection of 31 OTM cattle reached 141.5p per kg for a Holstein from Crookdale and £981 for a Friesian from Oulton House.

Thainstone
ALL classes met an ‘electric’ trade with strong sorts keenly sought after at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 926 store cattle, which included a show and sale judged by Aileen Ingram, East Comalegy, Drumblade. 
She picked out a Limousin cross bullock from D Smith, The Byre, Sunnyhill, as her champion which weighed 534kg and sold to Backmuir Livestock for £1360. 
In reserve was another Limmy cross bullock, this time weighing 512kg from J Fraser and Son, Lethen Mains, Nairn. He sold to JP and P Sim, Kincraig, for £1380. 
It was Charolais crosses and Simmental crosses that led the trade however as Welton Creuchies, Alyth, sold a 394kg Charolais bullock for 307.1p per kg and a 396kg Charolais heifer for 290.4p. 
Simmy crosses from Netherton, Glenlivet, led the gross trade at £1560 for a 768kg bullock and £1510 for a 755kg heifer. 
Averages were up on the year as 526 bullocks averaged 248.8p (+11.3) and 388 heifers levelled at 241.4p (+22.2p).
Store lambs (33) sold to £60 from North Gardie, Bixter, Shetland. 
Continental ewes from Backmuir, Keith, topped the 24 ewes with lambs and a Kerry Hill from Upperton of Cairnbanno, New Deer, topped the 387 feeding ewes and rams at £130.50.

CONFIDENCE is seemingly high amongst beef finishers down in Darlington, as store cattle met a strong trade at the sale of 188 through Darlington Auction Mart. 
Leading the entry at £1190 was a 26-month-old Aberdeen-Angus bullock from GA Jopling, Eastgate House, Eastgate, while heifers reached £1165, also for an Angus but this time from Humbleton Farm, Darlington. 
A good show of cast cows averaged 128p per kg with only seven of the 88 selling under 110p. They peaked at 210p for a Limousin from Doe Park, Cotherstone, with another from Riding Hill, West Kyo, at £1437.

LAWRIE and Symington sold a total of 87 store cattle on Tuesday where 66 bullocks levelled at 240.8p per kg with 21 heifers at 229. 
Limousin bullocks led the trade at 274.7p from Witton Farms, Edzell, and £1130 from Gairdrum, Burrelton, while heifers sold to 274.3p and £770 for British Blues from Tannochie.

A plainer show of OTM cattle averaged 140.59p, with cows selling to 163p for a Stabiliser from Congeith and £1427.82 for an Angus form Muncraig.
