Three lots of gimmers sold at four-figure prices at Lawrie and Symington’s sale of 4251 Blackface draft ewes and gimmers at Lanark, on Tuesday, where overall averages slipped in both sections.
Top price was £1850 for a pen of three from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, purchased by Sam Wallace, Northern Ireland.
This was followed at £1350 for a pen of six from Alistair and David McArthur, Nunnerie, purchased by JP Magee, Northern Ireland, with the third pen four-figure at £1250, consigned by Allan Wight, Midlock.
Ewes peaked at £560 for a pen of 10 from Midlock, purchased by David Morrison, followed at £480 for a pen of 10 from Mary McCall Smith, Connachan.
Overall, 1145 gimmers levelled at £150.98 (-£13.42 on the year for 195 fewer sold), while the 2945 ewes averaged £74.92 (-£15.84 for 347 fewer).
