TRADE reached £3500 for the champion at Harrison and Hetherington’s annual show and sale of suckled calves at Carlisle, which attracted an entry of 756 head.
Selling at this price was a Galloway cross heifer from Malcolm Telfer, Newton High House, Stocksfield. By Glenkiln Dynamite and out of a pure Limousin cow by Rainbow Simon, she was knocked down to the judge, Willie Timm. 
The reserve from Messrs Lee, Agars Hill, Whitfield, was a black Limousin heifer by a home-bred son of Goldies Oswald, out of a British Blue cross cow. She sold for the second top price of £2400 to Hannah Donaldson, Huby, York.
Store lambs sold the same day reached £73 for Texel crosses from Highfield Farm, Ruckcroft, while breeding sheep, sold to £130 for a Beltex gimmer from Glenmaid, Dumfries.
