The sale topped at £1350 for a Charolais bullock from RI and VA Telford, High Parkfoot, with heifers to £1260 three times for Limousins from WH and DA Gass, Nunscleugh. 
This week’s sale of 3523 store hoggs sold to £85.50 for Texels from Greenbeck.

STORE cattle sold dearer to the previous week at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 556, where a British Blue cross bullock from Fishergill, Wigton, topped at £1390.
Limousin bullocks reached £1280 from Low House, Wigton, while heifers sold to £1285 for a Limmy from Arkleby House, Wigton, with Blues to £1210 from Fishergill.
On Tuesday, the company sold 178 store sheep where Texel hoggs from Burmoor topped at £75.50 and breeding sheep sold to £250 for an in-lamb Beltex gimmer from Fitz Farm, Wigton.

QUALITY cattle of all weights sold well at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ store sale, where 399 bullocks levelled at 235.8p per kg with 249 heifers at 219.6p. 
Limousin crosses led throughout as bullocks reached £1430 for one weighing 700kg from Newton of Ferintosh, Conon Bridge, as well as 297.5p for a pen weighing 242kg from Bogburn, Duncanston. 
Heifers reached 305.1p for one at 295kg from Strone Cottage, Newtonmore, and £1310 for a 600kg pair from Dunain Mains, Inverness. 
Among the 73 cast cows, which averaged 126.8p, it was a Charolais cross from Forsie, Thurso, that led at 169.1p and £1370.

SELLING through United Auctions were 686 store cattle, where Charolais crosses from Dyke Farms topped the prices per kg at 276.4p with a 275kg bullock as well as 262.6p with a 281kg heifer. 
Per head, a 622kg Blonde cross from Kinnaird topped at £1275 with heifers to £1270 for a 604kg Simmental cross from Lathrisk. 
Averages included 390 bullocks at 228.62p and 232 heifers at 210.55p, while 38 dairy-bred bullocks levelled at 145.72p and sold to 179.3p and £990 from South Brackenridge. 
Levelling at 133.68p, the 155 cast beef cows reached 179.6p for a Charolais cross from Teasses and £1570 for a Simmental cross from Innerwick. Woodend topped the dairy cows at 117.6p and £915, and the 17 dairy cows averaged 93.84p. 
Also sold were 868 store and feeding sheep where breed averages among the hoggs included Suffolks at £63.36; Texels, £56.96; Cheviots, £65.39; Mules, £47.22; Blackfaces, £47.26. They reached £76 for Texels from Little Kenny.

BULLOCKS led the trade at United Auctions’ sale of 102 store and OTM cattle, when a 395kg Simmental cross from 20 High Street, Archiestown, realised 253.2p and a Limousin cross from East Port, Grantown on Spey, made £1360. 
Bullocks averaged 218.2p while the 48 heifers levelled at 214.1p and reached 228.3p and £1310 for Charolais from Ernan, Strathdon. 
Of the 11 cast cows, a Simmental cross from East Port, Grantown-on-Spey, sold for 176.1p, while a similar cow from Upper Blairnain, Aberlour, made £1220.

Top price was £1325 for a pair of Limousin bullocks from North Waterland and 254.6p for a similar pen from Lawhill. Heifers sold to £1300 for a Limousin from South Walton and 242.5p for a pen of Charolais from Howcommon. 
The 46 Friesian bullocks averaged 149.5p or £776.30 and topped at £900 for a pen from Helentongate and 167p for a pen from Stevenston.
A small show of 403 store hoggs averaged £47.80. Leading the sale at £61 was a pen of Suffolks from Messrs McKenna, Gass Farm, Kirkcowan.

A GOOD show of natural cattle were easily cashed at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ store sale last week, where 564 bullocks averaged 226.8p per kg (+2.6p on the week) with 508 heifers at 218.7p (+2.7p). 
Heifers led the pence per kg section at 283.4p for a 374kg Charolais from Milton of Noth, Rhynie and also sold to £1300 for a 664kg Simmental from Diamonds, Deerness. 
Among the bullocks, a trio of Charolais weighing 390kg from 122 Main Street, Aberchirder, made 271.8p, while a pair of Charolais scaling 642kg topped the gross section at £1410. 
Among the Orkney and Shetland cattle, bullocks sold to a top of 240p for a pair of 500kg British Blues from Gorn, Harray and £1260 for a pair of 530kg Simmentals from Diamonds, Deerness. 
The heifers peaked at 244.8p for a 392kg British Blue from Gorn and £1300 for a 664kg Simmental from Diamonds. 
Store hoggs (1496) sold dearer on the week and reached £86.50 for Texels from North Eddieston, Skene, while 319 island hoggs peaked at £70 for Texels from Clairness, Sandwick. 
Texels from North Lurg, Midmar, topped the 767 feeding sheep at £123.

SOLD through Caledonian Marts this week, were 348 store and breeding cattle, where bullocks averaged 216p per kg and heifers levelled at 217p. 
Bullocks topped at 275.5p for a pen of Limousins from A Dunn, Redhall, and £1280 for a pen of Limousins from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin.
Among the heifers, another pen of Limousins from High Kilphin made 252p, while Limousins from Crawtree Farms sold for £1160. 
All classes of hoggs met a similar trade, with a top of £73 paid for 20 Texel crosses from J Lambie, Knockdaw.

Darlington
HEIFERS from J and K Metcalf and Son, Park House, led Darlington Farmers’ Auction Mart’s show and sale of store cattle, claiming the championship as well as the top price. 
Top price at £1250 was a British Blue heifer, the same breeding as the champion which sold to the judge, Brad Thompson, for £1150. 
The reserve, a Charolais bullock from J Norman, Aysdale Gate, realised £1160 but it was a Limousin from M and E Walton, Willow Cottages, that topped the bullock trade at £1180. 
Young bulls hit £1220 for a Blue from TL Holmes and Son, White House. 
Averages included bulls at £885 (+£73 on the year), heifers at £882 (+£14), and bullocks at £867 (-£47). 
A pen of five Texels from DR Smith, East Roughlea, topped the hoggs at £88.50.

A top of 271.7p was paid for a Charolais cross bullock from Lee Meadow, with heifers to 240.4p for a Limousin cross from Westoun.
