LIMOUSINS from Nethermyres topped Lawrie and Symington’s sale of 36 prime when a 527kg heifer made 260p per kg; bullocks weighing 589kg and 617kg realised 250p; and a 672kg bullock sold for £1619.52.
Heifers also sold to £1440.72 for a 621kg Limousin from Pityot and averaged 232p for 24, while 11 bullocks levelled at 235p. 
Hoggs (968) averaged 186.2p (+6.1p on the week) and were topped by Beltex at 209.3p from Shandford as well as £99 twice from Easter Balgillo. 

Dumfries
STOCK was short in numbers due to the weather conditions at C and D Auction Marts, where 50 OTM cattle met a sharper trade. 
A Limousin heifer from Upper Tinwald topped the prime cattle at 22p per kg. 
The 32 dairy cows averaged 110p and sold to 139p from Longbridgemuir as well as £1054.10 from Muirside. Averaging 130.2p, the 14 beef cows hit 158p and £1082.30 for a Limousin from Newmains. 
Hoggs (456) sold easier on the week, peaking at £90.50 for two lots of heavy Suffolks from West Skelston. 
The same home topped the cast ewe trade at £96.50 for Texels. 

Huntly
HOGGS cashed in at comparable rates on the week at United Auctions’ sale of 1744, while ewes proved harder to cash. 
Texels weighing 42.3kg from Bogside, King Edward, topped the price per kg at 195p while both 66kg Suffolks from Auchencrieve, Rothiemay, and 59kg Texels from Glenrinnes Estate, Dufftown, made £100. 
Cast ewes (876) reached £118 for Texels from Little Millbrex. 

Thainstone
A LIMOUSIN heifer weighing 620kg from Clashendamer, Fordyce, made £1395 to top the trade at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of 21 prime cattle and 13 young bulls. 
Heifers (18) also sold to 241p per kg for a 525kg Limousin from Waterside of Forbes, Alford, with the same home topping the three prime bullocks at 243p and £1360.80 with a 560kg Limmy. 
Young bulls hit tops of 207p for a 665kg Limousin from Hillocks, Whiterashes, and £1507.20 for a 960kg Simmental from Lower Wanford, Banff.
All classes of cast cattle sold dearer on the week as 179 beef cows averaged 143p (+2.9p), eight dairy cows averaged 120.1p (n/c), and six bulls levelled at 126.9p (+10p). Cows reached 197.6p for a Limousin from Woodlands, Dingwall, and £1450 for a Charolais from Cortiecram, Auchnagatt. 
Hoggs also met an improved trade as 1982 averaged 184.9p (+7.3p) with 1188 SQQs at 188.6p (+7.7p). They hit 209.3p for 43kg Texels from Hallhill, Kinneff, and £113 for 70kg Charolais from Broadmyre, Clatt. 

Longtown
AN EXCELLENT show for quality and flesh was forward at C and D Auction Marts, where 5379 hoggs averaged 189p with SQQs at 191p. 
The sale topped at 261p for a pen of Beltex from D and D Aitken, Uppercleuch, and £107 for Texels from A and M Duncanson, Marchbank. 
The 3038 cast ewes and rams peaked at £160 for Texel ewes from A Hamilton, Smyllum, while rams sold to £116 for Texels from Messrs Edminson, Middle Farm. 
Prime cattle (23) topped at 231p and £1348.20 for a British Blonde from J, J and D Taylor, Englishtown.

Stirling (Cal)
CATTLE upheld recent late rates at Caledonian Marts’ sale of 101 prime cattle, where trade hit 245p per kg four times – for a bullock from Learielaw, as well as heifers from Easter Ochtermuthill, Brockwoodlees, and Learielaw. 
Overall, bullocks levelled at 223p with heifers at 225p and young bulls at 191p. 
With fewer beef cows, the overall average was back on the week as 72 cast cattle reached 159p for a British Blue cross cow from MI Wainwright, Todhall, and £1500 for an Aberdeen-Angus cow from Ferguson Bros, Gillandersland. 
On Tuesday, the firm’s sale of 1252 prime hoggs reached £106 for a pair of 51.5kg Beltex from JB Guthrie, Cuiltburn, and 236p for 42.4kg Beltex from HT Shanks, Easter Cash, to average 187.5p (+0.6p).
Heavy ewes (141) averaged £76.22 and sold to £128 for a Texel from J and J Kinloch, Walton, while 222 export ewes levelled at £42.52. 

Stirling (UA)
UNITED Auctions sold 2748 prime hoggs at Stirling, where they averaged 180.3p per kg and peaked at £110 and 238p for Beltex from Longfauld. 
Among the 764 sheep, Texel ewes from Kinclaven topped at £130, with rams to £108 for Texels from Bowleys. 

St Boswells
AT ST Boswells’ prime sale on Monday, Harrison and Hetherington sold 17 bullocks to average 218p (-5p on the week) and 32 heifers at 217p (-3p). 
Bullocks sold to 248p from Lennoxlove, while heifers reached 244p from both Bee Edge and Penston. 
Top price per head was £1468 from Bee Edge. 
Averaging 144p, the 52 cast cows peaked at 179p (+4p) from Hulterburn and Witburgh, and £1378 from Stoneypath. 
A smaller show of 882 prime hoggs reached £117 for three pure Texels from Blackladder Mains and 226.6p for Texels off Traprain.
Ewes averaged £69 having sold to £105 for Suffolks from Ladyflat, while a Texel from Upper Bolton topped the rams at £120. 

Ayr
CRAIG Wilson had forward 820 prime hoggs at its prime sale this week, where a top price of 211.1p per kg was paid for a pen of 45kg Beltex from Messrs Brown, Caprickhill. 
Averaging 191.1p (+1.3p on the week and +28.2p on the year), they also reached £99 for Beltex from Semple, Netherton. 
Among the 568 cast ewes and tups, heavy ewes averaged £69.08 and sold to £93 for a pen of Cheviot ewes from T Blackhurst, Bynehill, while light ewes reached £60.50 for a pen of Blackface ewes from A and CB Miller, Blaidlandhill, to average £46.64. 
Topping the tups at £110.50 were Suffolks from HR and C Dalrymple, Kings Arms. 
On Tuesday, the company sold 12 prime cattle to 249p for a Limousin heifer from South Milmain and £1433.50 for the same from Balminnoch. 
The 77 cast beef cows levelled at 127.71p and sold to £1360 for a Simmental from South Milmain and 163.9p for a Limousin from Girvan Mains. Dairy cows (103) averaged 102.56p and peaked at £1020 for a Friesian from Culscadden and 134.21p for the same from Sloehabbert. 

Lanark
A TOP price of 254p per kg was paid at Lawrie and Symington for a 526kg Limousin heifer from David Dickinson, Brockwoodlees. 
While butchers cattle averaged 243.6p, 70 cast cows reached £1455 or 164p from J and R Shanks, West Glespin. 
The 1252 hoggs averaged 193.2p and sold to 237.8p for 45kg Beltex from R and M Struthers, Collielaw. 
Cast ewes sold to £149.50 for Texels from Hallhill.

Carlisle
A SMALLER entry of 49 prime cattle sold at Harrison and Hetherington, where a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Lockhart, Fauldingcleuch, topped at £1631.91. 
Bullocks also sold to 224.5p for a Limmy cross from Messrs Dixon, Low Whinnow, Carlisle, while heifers reached £1461.08 from Messrs Story, Newbiggin, Carlisle, as well as 242.50p from the same home. 
In the prime bulls, a Charolais from Messrs Goldie, Greenfield, Annan, made £1848.22, while a Limousin from Maison Gill sold for 226.5p. 
A good show of 373 cast cows and bulls saw a British Blue weighing 1167kg from Greg Jackson, Skelton Wood End, top at £2479 and 212.5p, while dairy cows reached £1123 or 120.5p for a Holstein cross cow weighing 932kg from Robert Adams. 
Hoggs (2051) averaged 189.40p with SQQs at 193.6p. Top price was £100 twice for Texels from Messrs Laird, Unity Farm, Brampton, and Messrs Horncastle, The Hope, Hexham, and 246.8p for the same from The Hope. 
Cast ewes peaked at £103.50 for Texels from The Green. 

Castle Douglas
TRADE reached a top of £114 and 285p per kg at Wallets Marts’ sale of 1720 prime hoggs where they averaged 190.26p with SQQs at 193.69p. 
Topping the trade was a pen of Beltex from Messrs Bunting, Bridgestone, Glenlochar, while cast sheep sold dearer on the week to £107 for Beltex from Midcroft. 

Dingwall
SOME 21 prime cattle sold through Dingwall and Highland Marts this week, where heifers averaged 208.5p (-6.9p) and topped at 222p twice for a 590kg Limousin cross and 565kg for another both from Bridgend, Dingwall. 
The same home topped the price per head at £1410.75 for one weighing 675kg. 
Bullocks reached 209p and £1295.80 for a 620kg Limousin cross from Mountgerald, Dingwall. 
In the sheep, 765 old season lambs levelled at 184.9p (+5.9p) and peaked at 205p for a pen of Beltex crosses scaling 40kg from Wester Muckernich, Tore, and £96 for a 74kg Suffolk cross from Breakachy, Laggan. 
The 523 SQQs averaged 190.9p (+4.5p), while 51 feeding sheep sold to £119 for a Texel ram from Cabrich, Kirkhill.
