BRITISH Blue cross heifers proved the star attraction at Harrison and Hetherington's early spring sale of breeding cattle at Kirkby Stephen, on Monday, securing the top two prices at £4000 and £3000.

The dearest, an in-calf heifer from Messrs Eddon, Pickering, was bought by Messrs Owen, Llandfrydog, Anglesey.

Later, Messrs Ewbank, Middlemoor, Harrogate, went to £3000 for another in-calf heifer from Messrs Bradley, Penny Grange, Settle, who sold 14 similarly aged heifers at £2134.29.

Leading the outfits at £2750, was a Limousin cross heifer with Limousin heifer calf at foot from Messrs Ousby, Bents Farm, Newbiggin- On-Lune, purchased by local producers, Messrs Beckwith, New Hall, Kirkby Stephen.
