QUALITY rams of all breeds met a strong trade at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ autumn show and sale at Thainstone, on Tuesday, where a new sale record of 5000gns was paid for a Texel tup lamb from Jim Innes’ Strathbogie flock.
Star attraction was a Millars Windbrook son from Mr Innes, Dunscroft, Huntly, which sold to Robbie Wilson, buying for his Milnbank flock from Turriff.
Second top among the Texels was 1200gns paid for a tup lamb from A Sutherland, Carran, Crosskirk, Forss, which was knocked down to Thurso sheep producers, W and M Miller, Aimster.
Meanwhile, the Texel breed champion, a shearling from Jemma Green, Corskie, sold for 1000gns to the judge, Walter Wylie, Atholl Estates, Blair Atholl. 
Michael Mennie, Westside, secured the reserve with the second prize shearling which made 900gns selling to P Jamieson, Midhouse, Tagon, Voe, Shetland.
Second top price overall was 1700gns for a Suffolk tup lamb from Highfield Farming, The Knock, Duns, purchased by Welsh breeder, A Williams, Llidiart Y Rhos, Llanrug, Caernarfon.
The breed champion, another tup lamb, from George and Melvin Stuart, Milltown of Birness, made 750gns to J Henderson, West Teuchan, Cruden Bay. 
Stuart Wood, Woolhillock, Skene, led the Beltex with a shearling purchased by S McCormack, Wester Deans, at 1300gns. 
A tup lamb from M Seed and Son, Home Farm, Auchry, led the Bluefaced Leicesters selling at 800gns, to Craig Paterson, Cranna Bridge, Aberchirder.
